1200CHF? How many square meters does that get cleaned?
I found someone for 720CHF for a 115 square meter apartment.

Re: Professional Home cleaning before leaving (Zurich)

Can someone give me some leads on who the best value guys will be to clean a 3.5 room, 72m2 apartment in Zurich at the end of January? It's not in a bad state but I want to make sure it's cleaned better than I can do it when I hand it back.

EDIT - I have just been quoted 800hf... does that seem an average price?

Re: Professional Home cleaning before leaving (Zurich)

I just wanted to share my experience - we did our own cleaning and I was really stressed out after reading all the posts here but 1200 chf (for 100 sqm.) just seemed too much. It was a lot of work - I really have not cleaned so thouroughly ever in my life (!) but the landlord after more than an hours inspection was quite happy and we are getting all our deposit back. I did a very, very thourough job with the fridge, oven, dishwasher and fireplace some time beforehand (a couple of weeks) and then slowly worked my way through the apartment - we have two kids so this was not easy, but I just wanted to encourage those of you who want to do it yourselves - it can be done! And now I can go spend 1200 franks on something else ;o)

We reckoned it would be at least CHF 400 for a 49 square metre apartment so did it ourselves (husband was too cheap). Anyway, after hours of scrubbing we'll end up losing some of our deposit as the oven wasn't cleaned properly (fair enough) and I broke one of the shelves of the fridge while cleaning it (d'oh). I don't have the final numbers on what we'll pay for those, but I think we'll come out ahead - the landlord has to repaint anyway (we're not responsible for the paint job, though we did fill in any holes we'd made in the walls).

Hi Burner - can you give details about the cleaners you hired for the 230 sq meter house for GBP410. I recently got a quote for my 90 sq meter apartment of 1200 CHF, so any references would be great!

Can you provide contact information for that? As I got a quote for 1200 for a 90 square meter apartment with a handover guarantee.

Re: Professional Home cleaning before leaving (Zurich)

Last year, I got quotes from three cleaning companies in the Zürich area and Familiahenttonen, a member of this forum, gave me the best quote (by far) for an apartment cleaning with handover inspection guarantee.

Familiahenttonen's business website is http://cleaninghelp.ch.

My apartment had 2.5 rooms and was 67 msq. It had been recently refurbished and the dish washer and oven had never been used and so didn't need cleaning.

The apartment was cleaned on the handover day and the cleaner stayed behind for the landlord's inspection.

My landlord was a reasonable man and didn't go all "CSI Zürich" during the inspection. He followed an inspection checklist and at the end said everything was fine and I would get my full deposit back. I signed the handover form and about two weeks later my full deposit was paid into my account.

What a relief! After the inspection it was straight to the pub to unwind over half a dozen pints :-)

Could you please PM me their name? Did the apartment pass without any problems? Thanks

Re: Professional Home cleaning before leaving (Zurich)

We just had 2 folks come over for quotes on cleaning our apartment -- 115 square meters and 4.5 rooms. The first one was 1800 CHF. The second one was 1200 CHF. Both came with guarantees, so I definitely recommend looking around.

230sq meters, including carpets, in 6 hours, for 600chf? Sorry, but unless they did not do something like the kitchen (which can take 1 person 1 day to clean to Swiss inspection standards) then I don't see how that is possible. Not without intense pre-cleaning on your side, anyway.

There were four people. That was 24 man-hours of cleaning so getting the kitchen clean was easy in that time frame but it works out at 25CHF an hour which seems on the low side.

I misread, thought he said two. Either way, it seems insanely and unrealistically cheap for a professional company.

That's funny... they quoted me 1200chf for 72m2 and 3.5 rooms 2 months ago. Seems like they have very inconsistent pricing then?

That's what I thought but not all cleaning companies are particularly good at it.

Yes. I'll let you know about the result next week, if I don't forget. I negotiated the price
