Taking Gifts Back to the UK

Hi all,

So, I will leave Switzerland on Saturday after the best 13 months of my life and it was common tradition amongst the interns at Syngenta Basel to each buy themselves a gift to take home as a memory of Switzerland.

For me this was an SBB Railway clock which can be bought in some gift shops. CHF179 for the small one or CHF395 for the big one. The problem is I read something worrying about having to declare gifts that are of more than 145 value.

Can anyone confirm this or tell me how this works? The clock is less than this figure (just...), but with chocolates and other things will I have to declare these.

Thanks in advance!
Mike.

you bought yourself a gift...?

technically it's not a gift... you just bought it...

Anyway I wouldn't worry about it, just stick it in your bag and take it home.

You could eat the chocolates

Package up the chocolates and send by post a couple of days before you leave?
