mobile subscription

what happens to the mobile subscription when i leave switzerland?

some people are claiming that companies are threating them with 2500 chf fines... but other say it is completely legal to cancel the contract without any fines if you deregister yourself and you are permamently leaving switzerland

how is it really ?

Re: mobile subscription

If you took a deal that included a free or very cheap handset the mobile phone company will expect you to pay out the contract. If you have a sim only contract you should be able to cancel it.

Re: mobile subscription

Swisscom served me in this case in an extremely nice way. I just emailed them that I'm leaving in 20 days and they didn't even aks for the official deregistration.

Re: mobile subscription

I have just been dealing with Orange today and the answer I got was that as I only have a 1 year contract (which I have completed) all I need is the deregistration letter and I only pay up to the end of the month

Re: mobile subscription

At Orange they do not tend to complicate about it, at least that is the info I got from them when singing up

Re: mobile subscription

I'm going back to the UK and was not able to switch from Orange Switzerland to Orange UK, they operate as 2 separate companies - once I had the deregistration letter though they were happy to switch it off with no hidden charges.
