Re: CHF salary equivalent in GBP

If you get the current exchange rate you'll be fine: ~150K. Since Switzerland is so expensive, maintaining your current standard of living may well be less than that. If you're the sole earner, you may find that your overall tax burden is rather higher than Switzerland.'

Where I work, the 175k Chf equivalent in UK is in a range between £68k - £74k. Our UK companies are just outside London (as location in UK can also impact salary)

Re: CHF salary equivalent in GBP

for Ch to UK I divide by 3. So £66. but that in the north, I would add extra's like travel card... I think that a all zones london pass is about the same price as a GA, so 70k?

Re: CHF salary equivalent in GBP

I would use 2CHF to £1 which was an exchange rate not so long ago, 10 years ago people actually earned way more in London.

It's a bit high fmf. I'd say 175 will get you around 70k gbp like was suggested above/

140-150k since your question is not what would give you an equivalent lifestyle rather what would match your current overall package of 200k ( base plus bonus) considering the higher tax rate etc

I am with FMF I reckon about gbp 100k for equivalent standard of living. But you talk about moving BACK to London? Surely you should have a pretty good idea.

150k sterling would give £7,515.63 per month after tax to spend which is a huge amount in the UK. you would live like a king for that. to suggest you need 150k to live the same standard of living as Switzerland is a joke. the only place where i can think that kind of level would be needed would be somewhere like Australia.

Read what I wrote I didnt say it was what was needed for an equivalent lifestyle. The person is on equivalent of 200K CHF it all depends if the company is willing to match. And yes in Australia that amount would only let you maintain status quo if that you may even need an increase.

I did once know a king of a small African country (before he was assassinated) & you could live like him on circa £7.5K as a king.
Other kings would need a lot more.

the company is never going to match 200k by an exchange rate calculation for somewhere like the UK. The op asked for what is an equivalent salary meaning by lifestyle and expected translated salary, not just a currency converter.

You obviously don't know the cost of housing in CENTRAL London, i.e 15 minutes to work, rents are quoted 'weekly'

You are correct. When I was living in Surrey, near great Windsor Park, I thought a friend was paying the same for a place in central London - then realised the London place per week was the same as my monthly rent.

The OP did say West London, so that could mean a house on Wentworth.

Mikers, has Australia really become that expensive?

General question: If 150,000 has become the new 120,000chf salary here, what is the new salary in London? For that matter what was the old?

In a word YES! Cost of living there now is comfortably on par with switzerland in the main cities which are all within the top 20-30 most expensive cities in the world now. 10 years ago there was hardly a single city in the top 50

yes about 500 a week for a good flat. 2k a month. equal to 3k chf, which is the same as here.

now that that bits out the way, you can get on to everything else, which is a lot more expensive in CH than in the UK.

Ok, to live like a King in Wentworth rent looks like 15k a month
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-...latShare=false

Holland Park W9 can be 20k a week or £86,667 a month. Holland Park was always considered quite nice even when Notting was considered a dump.http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-...hannel=renting

I better not look anywhere really nice, where a King might choose to live!
