Dependent leaving for more than 3 month

My wife and daughter would be leaving Switzerland for about 4 month. I went to the Stadthouse to inquire. They said that anyone leaving for more than 3 month and less than 6 month (provided their Resident Permit is valid till then) needs to communicate to them before departing simultaneously once they come back they need to report to them. They also said that u need to pay their Insurance here.

My query is will it have any impact on my Tax code since my dependent would not be in Zurich, also will it have any impact in my daughter School (German Government).

Please also suggest, Will they face any issue at immigration once they come back.

Re: Dependent leaving for more than 3 month

AFAIK L permit dependents can stay 3 months and B permit holder can stay upto 6 months outside Switzerland(subject to prior authorization). Until deregistration it will not be communicated to tax authority and tax code will not change. Yes you will need to pay health insurance. I heard that here you can not take kids to vacation other than their scheduled holidays. Better check with the school.

Re: Dependent leaving for more than 3 month

Why are they leaving? There are very few accepted reasons for having a permit put on hold. If your Swiss company sends you abroad, military service or further education. Anything else, if you can't make a really good case for them being away for so long, will not be accepted and their permits will expire after the 3 months. Then you'd have to apply for family reunification all over again.

No, it won't have any effect on your tax code unless you wife also works. And I second simple_person's comment on the school. There are stiff penalties for taking kids out of school iirc.

Re: Dependent leaving for more than 3 month

Hi Medea,
Please dont confuse the OP. never the gemainde said that their permits will be cancelled if they stay outside switzerland for more than 3 months.
Dear OP,
i think this may be new controls they have introduced recently. but what is your problem to follow the guidelines from the gemainde. just inform them when your dependents are leaving and again inform them when they are back.
regarding the health insurance, it is mandatory as long as somebody has a resident permit he. so u have to pay health insurance for all the months they are away.
regarding school holidays, you will have to check with the school.
it is rather strict here that schools normally do not allow children to take special holidays apart from the regular holidays.

Cheers
Happycreature
