Advice on how to ship personal goods out of Switzerland on a pallet

I've seen some previous posts where people have tried to ship household contents out of Switzerland to UK by pallet but can't see this option on any of the removal company links that have been posted. I don't urgently need any of this stuff so see no need for parcel/air and its not a big enough load for a whole truck/container. Anyone had a successful experience moving a pallet of goods out of switzerland and willing to offer advice?

Hi Goosfraba,

you can check with any relocation company offering international relocations such as Settelen (used them twice, good service), Crown Relocations, Allied Pickfords ( used them thrice for large relocations, excellent service) or check google for others.

How it works, they will not provide a pallet, but will come to your house, pick up the boxes, pack the furniture that should be moved etc. They will then take the items to their warehouse, and, if its not urgent, might wait for a full load to UK and co-load it. This can be a cheaper option, you might have to ask for it as they might not offer it straight away.

Out of experience, I only recommend to use a reputed relocation company with an own network, even if the charges seem outrageously high at first glance. It will save a lot of hassle and you can be relatively sure that your goods will arrive without (or, at least, minimal..) damage

I see these guys around our end of the country fairly often. They are offering a weekly service to/from the UK.

Re: Advice on how to ship personal goods out of Switzerland on a pallet

thanks for the recommendations on removers, I think Pickfords were the ones that moved me here initially, I had my stuff in storage for a couple of years before hand so I'm not quite sure who to attribute the breakages to, but it was all resolved in a timely fashion

I've got a bit of time on my hands until the new job so i was looking at a diy route to keep control of costs, the only problem being i don't have anywhere to move to yet. I'd probably just rent a storage unit to move the stuff into for a few months. Having a pallet would keep me honest and plan to utilise the space properly.......

Re: Advice on how to ship personal goods out of Switzerland on a pallet

I've done a fair bit of shipping stuff between the UK and Switzerland (research samples) and found this website to be best for getting quick quotes and comparing prices:
