inssurance, leaving, landlord

I am leaving the country and therefor, cancelling all the contracts here, including the house inssurance.
The thing is that we had to disassemble a warddrobe, drop a heavy piece and made a hole in the wooden floor. I have been said that the inssurance covers it. They need the handover from the immobilien. But we will get this handover just before leaving the country, which means that our contract with the inssurance company will be finished ...

Anyone that can help? Any advice will be very much appreciated.
Sorry for the long and maybe complicated post and thanks in advance!

Re: inssurance, leaving, landlord

hi, did you try asking the insurance company if they can accomodate? Meaning if the handover can be done in their presence and the cheque will be handed accordingly? OR the date of cancellation is atleast on the same day as you catch your flight?

Also, any tips on how you got the insurance covered? Did you provide any evidence? I have a patch in the wall and dehumidification charges which maybe a worry for me
