Moving & Long Term Storage Household Goods

Am retiring and considering spending part of the year here and the other part in the USA. I'd like to take a year and just rent living around Europe. What to do with my possessions, and where, is key in proceeding. I'm overwhelmed as to how to get info to make a decision about storing my household goods here, or shipping them to the USA and storing them there until I figure out where I will be living. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
