Leaving Switzerland to Canada this summer: flights status & necessary formalities

My girlfriend is leaving Switzerland this summer for study reasons to Canada. It seems Canada currently allowes in people with study permits. What's the current status of the flights with Canada? Where can we check it?

The airlines? Nobody knows exactly what flights will be available when. It seems they are increasing flights but which ones will fly, only the airline can tell you (and probably they even do not know exactly now which ones)

Airlines are flying more routes in June, from today and even more from June 15th. The best way is to check for flight availability in SWISS or Air Canada, if they are selling tickets for June, then they intend to fly.

Where in Canada? Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver normally get a few daily flights. Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Halifax, St John’s fewer or none.

Hi OP,

I just booked flights back to the US in late June this past weekend. My friend works for the US Consulate here in Zurich and gave me great advice. I would advise you to consult the Canadian Embassy and ask for their thoughts. I completely changed my flight plans based upon input from my friend and data she received form the US Embassy in Bern.

Best of luck!

She should be aware there's a 14-day mandatory quarantine with enforcement. She will need to arrange transportation and food in some way. People have had public health show up at their door with police if they didn't check-in during their mandatory quarantine.

See: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/bor...deau-1.5575617

This is taken very seriously and neighbours will report you if you're not following guidelines.

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses!

One more question: we were trying to contact the Canadian embassy in Switzerland and also in Paris. However their phone lines appear to be reserved for Canadian citizens only. We want to apply for a study visa. Is it still possible to contact the embassy in any way? Is it still possible to apply for a visa?

Maybe try this (not sure if they accept new applications):

I got an email from the embassy saying they will be providing more non-essential services from the 8th of June. Along with this link:
