Leaving and returning

Sorry for posting this seemingly simple question, but despite skimming many threads and official websites I wasn't able to find the answer.

I am an EU/Schengen national. I am currently registered in Switzerland. I will shortly leave for unforeseeable future, so I am planning to deregister.

I wonder what are my rights regarding stays based on my EU nationality: normally, I would be entitled to stays of 90 days within each 180 day period without registering.

If, say I deregister and leave today, will I be able to return in a week for 90 days without a residence permit? Is the time I spent until today on my residence permit count towards these 90/180 registration-free period?

Thank you!

Yes, you could deregister and leave today and come back in a week as a tourist. Bear in mind you'd need travel insurance or an EHIC card from whichever country you'd be resident in after leaving since your Swiss health insurance would need to be cancelled along with all the other stuff.

You likely can't cancel your Swiss insurance as it provides 3 months cover as a tourist. I had to prove I was covered in my new country of residence before they accepted the end date as the day I left CH.

Depends on the health system of the county you are going to. I was never asked for anything when returning to the UK, because you are covered by the NHS.
