Swiss restrictions

Hi everyone.

I fly back and forth to the uk a lot and I do miss my family and stuff when I am in switzerland I am going to ask a stupid question but will I likely be able to fly back for the weekend for my birthday without restrictions on November 16?
I know no one knows the answer to this but its really stressing me out not being able to travel between switzerland and England

Join the club..... nobody knows what will happen then. People have been separated from loved ones for a longer time, you seem to see them regularly.

Re: Swiss restrictions

As I understand it, you would be required to quarantine for 14 days when you enter the UK and then to quarantine for another 10 days when entering Switzerland unless you qualify for an exemption. And that is regardless of your nationality.

https://www.eda.admin.ch/london

"Switzerland was removed from the travel corridor exemption list by the UK on Saturday 29 August. Persons entering the UK from Switzerland are required to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival in the UK"

The UK was added to Switzerland’s ‘quarantine list’ (list of states with an increased risk of infection) with effect from 28 September 2020. Persons entering Switzerland from the UK are required to go into quarantine for 10 days upon arrival in Switzerland unless they qualify for an exemption."

Welcome to my world. I am supposed to be going back on the 19th of October, but it's not going to happen. I've had one weekend with my family all year!

Don´t think that interns qualify? Exemptions seem to be for business related trips/work only.

Justinthexpat - STOP asking the same questions in different posts.

As things stand you WILL have to quarantine when you go to the UK (although you can leave before the 14 days are up). But no birthday pub or meal out for you. You have to stay in "at home".

Come back to CH, and you ARE condemmed to solitary for 10 days, boy.

You WILL receive an email from your airline before you travel, reminding you of your responsibility to check the relevant legislation before travelling.

www.gov.uk/uk-border-control

Check them.

(2 days Swiss quarantine left. Or is it 3?)

That is a whole new thread.

Gosh. really? You've loved telling as all you practically live in dire poverty in a run down flat at Birsfelden - now you're telling us you can afford to fly back and forward

Just give up Justin, it ceased to be funny a long time ago.

I now have the answer, because I checked.

The day of arrival in Switzerland counts as your first day of quarantine. (Even, apparently, if you arrive at 23.55!)

So if you arrived on Thursday 1st October, your first day of freedom is Sunday 11th.

The english translation of the rules is a little ambiguous, as it says: You are required on arrival to go immediately and directly to your home or to other suitable accommodation. You must remain there at all times for 10 days following arrival (quarantine) and contact the responsible cantonal authority within two days of your arrival (see cantonal contact details www.bag.admin.ch/entry) to tell them you are in quarantine.

That could be read to mean "10 days not including day of arrival". Thankfully, it doesn't.

Regards

Ian

You can fly of course.

Just need to accept the quarantine regulations on both ends.

He lives in poverty because he's spending all his intern salary on flights.

It never was funny.

C grade trolling. Must try harder.

I'd give an unclassified grade.
