Re: Leaving Switzerland - keeping the bank account

Recently met my UBS account manager regarding an upcoming move from Switzerland and was informed that this was indeed possible. Keep in mind there may be fees associated. In any case, I suggest you contact your UBS account manager as well to confirm. Good luck.

Re: Leaving Switzerland - keeping the bank account

Last week, UBS indicated a min of 25k to keep the account active when not in the country. Also, they warned me to switch all comms to online only to avoid post being returned, and hence account being subsequently blocked.

Re: Leaving Switzerland - keeping the bank account

Is there some way to maintain a "PO BOX" in the country and then get mail forwarded? If you do everything eBanking, maybe it works? Such service exists in the US

Depends on what type of account you have, charges are different. Call them and ask, they speak English.

There have been many threads on this topic, and clearly different banks have different approaches.

I know that PostFinance allows non-resident accounts: I have a PostFinance account and live in the States. I can do my banking securely from home, in English.

If UBS does not allow you to keep your account (ask UBS, not EF ) I suggest that you open a PostFinance account.
What are the fees that you pay ?

Re: Leaving Switzerland - keeping the bank account

Here's a table of fees charged by Swiss banks to account-holders who live outside of Switzerland.

The dates of the information are given (not always 2018, yet) and for one's own current research, the links seem to be working:
