Re: Epilators

I'm with Nil on this one. Been using one for 10+ years and have no problems with ingrowing hairs, and I dont find it painful at all. I do my armpits and lower legs and now the hair on both areas is so fine after all these years that it takes me seconds to do the maintenance - maybe thats why I dont feel any pain, clearly would be less painful the finer the hair is.

The best thing about it, apart from all that time and money saved over the years is that you dont have that interim stage of waiting til the hair is long enough to wax, or that awful stubble stage if shaving, because the hairs grow back at different rates (and finer each time) so you never get the total clearance back to the skin followed by noticeable grow back levels.

I couldnt live without mine

I think that's the thing. If I could borrow one from someone else first then fine, but I don't want to splash out on one (alright, it's a voucher, but I could spend it on something else!) only to not use it.
I think when I bought mine it was possible to return it if it just wasn't suitable. See here for the UK guarantee.

The same guarantee could be valid for the one in Globus.

Hum.... I am not sure about this. You don't have the same customer service here compare to UK or US. What would be just totally normal over there wouldn't be acceptable here when returning an item.

Re: Epilators

One more to vouch for the pain , eeks
I stick to a good razor , like Gillette Max, with that you cant get cuts.
Dont use the fancy colored ones for women, they are useless one time use worthy only.

Re: Epilators

Well, I've just had a lovely little shop in Globus. Picked up a very snazzy designer tie for my OH when he gets back, a bottle of Pimm's (haven't seen it anywhere else - was overjoyed to discover it in Globus!) and a pesto herb mix. I still have 50CHF left on my gift card... just enough for the epilator

I shan't be getting it, I've decided (although I'm such an indecisive person, there's a part of me screaming "GO ON, GIVE IT A GO!"). I'll stick to going out in public stubbly in the summer. Besides, you can't see unless you get up close.

If it may help you, while in vacation, I shaved my legs because my epilator doesn't work properly on 110w. And my hair grow back pretty strong from the shaving.

I just used the epilator earlier, and while it is very pleasant, it is not bad at all. You may have no problem to handle the feeling, you should give it a try, when you get use to it, you can't live without it. It is so practical!

Re: Epilators

Can't say what the says as it's in German. But I don't find the same promotion on the French site.

If they have a try it and return it promotion I would certainly suggest you try it out. Can you believe I'm saying that? But you'll never rest til you know for yourself.

As we smile and say: "Oh that's lovely, thanks a bunch";
we're really thinking: "Ah no, not another bloody tie .... I hope she didn't waste too much on that. I've got a wardrobe full of ones I don't like. Never mind - I'll save a bit on future presents".
I only have one nice tie; after I lost a lot of weight, I had loads of loose, hanging surplus skin. But all the doctor could do was to start at the bottom and slowly pull all the skin up my body and tie it in a huge big knot, on the top of my head. I'm destined to wear a hat for the rest of my life, but people, without fail, always comment on how much they like my tie!

But what about that hole in the middle of your forehead? I'm not even going to mention your afore mentioned "tie"

Baseball cap with large peak. Otherwise I might be known as Cyclops, instead of "Elephant tie."

While that may be true for most men, my boyfriend only has 2 ties and always talks about wanting more. He loves bright colours, and this one fits the bill.

Tip though, put baby powder on your skin first.
Why should we put baby powder ? Does this help the epilator to take out the hair better? Thank you.

Re: Epilators

In my view waxing is the best option: more effective than epilators, hygienic, gives you options (not permanent, styling).

With the epilator? DON'T!

The powder with stick on the plates and it will ruin the machine. It has to be done on an exfoliated clean skin.

Re: Epilators

I just recently started using one (only on my legs though), and while it HURTS you do get used to it and I definitely prefer it over shaving. Also how much it hurts depends on the length of the hair. But like others have said, exfoliation is very very important!
