TNT shipment from overseas

Hi all,

My friend got me a present and he sent it all the way from Vietnam to Switzerland using TNT courier. It got through until the package hits Zurich and it has been stuck there for a while now. In the package status it says "Exception" and the tracking program says it's being held for government inspection. The content of the package is a pair of shoes, I believe.

So, anyone who has had experience with this would you be so kind to help me please? On what does it mean when it says exception since I could not find it on the TNT site, and is there going to be any problem with my package?

Re: TNT shipment from overseas

why dont you phone TNT and ask them whats happening it would make more sense than asking on an internet forum.

Re: TNT shipment from overseas

From experience using other swervices, an exception is something unusual or unpredicted occurred causing a minor delay.

TNT tracking site is here:

Re: TNT shipment from overseas

Most likely, it was not properly declared. That's why customs would inspect a shipment, which may take a day or two usually. Not really unusualy - if it's that, of course...

Right, thanks guys, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I find it funny the shipment got tossed around from being in the TNT depot, then to the Customs, to the government inspection and now back to depot again.

Re: TNT shipment from overseas

Maybe someone thought it was a "TNT shipment from overseas", and that's why it went for government inspection.

Re: TNT shipment from overseas

I work for TNT and can tell you that they are not shoes.

More than this I cannot tell you. But you should get the package on Monday once we've finished photographing ourselves in your gift

Re: TNT shipment from overseas

I don't get all this hassle for packages laying around unsupervised in front of buildings or even laying around in big building entry halls...

From my experience Switzerland is safe... in small villages and towns. Once you start cramming people together, you are bound to have problems.
