Student Books in PDF format for free

http://bookboon.com/ch

On BookBooN.com you can download free ebooks for students and travelers in PDF format. All the books can be downloaded without registration. Their ebooks are legal and written exclusively for Bookboon aka www.studentensupport.ch. They are financed by a few in-book ads.

Re: Student Books in PDF format for free

Thanks for the link. I just had a look at the Geneva travel guide (the only swiss one I could see) and it turned out to be a cursory 30-page article, only about half of which was real content and the rest adverts, screengrabs from Google maps (with very dubious copyright legality) and photos from wikipedia (likewise). Not bad for free and pdf is a handy format to have, but it doesn't seem any more informative than wikipedia's or wikitravel's offerings.

I haven't gone through their 'student books' but thy seem to be more substantial than the travel guides - more like the well-known wikibooks.

By the way, it says you need Adobe Reader to read the pdfs but of course any pdf reader software will do, it doesn't have to be Adobe's. And it says you need to give your email address but you can download the pdfs by entering a false address.

One of my pet peeves ... almost EVERY site that has PDFs says you need Adobe Reader, many even give you a link to download the bloated, security-challenged software. I have uninstalled it and am happily using Foxit instead.
