Hi there Forumers!


I'm off to a ball in Vienna in a few weeks, and being good with a needle, I've bought a dress in a lovely colour but want to brighten it up with some embellishments.

I've scanned the forum about bead shops, but what I really had in mind was crystals and sequins- which the bead shops don't have a lot of. For example I would need sequins in a turquoise colour, but have only found silver and gold. Also, there are crystals on sale, but only the stick-on type, while I'm looking for big crystals (looking like fake jewels) that can be sewn in place - I've seen them on lots of clothing and shoes on sale recently.

I was womdering if anybody knows of a shop in or near Zurich where I would be likely to find these kind of things. I remember fondly a huge sewing shop in my home town in England where they had a big accessories section that stocked all sorts of things for embellishing clothing, including sequins, beads and feathers!!!

Has anybody spotted anything of the sort around here?

I'm not sure, but Stofftrucke at Loewenplatz 2 has a decent selection of stuff. And even if they don't have it, they'll let you know where to get it from.

There is a store just off Rennweg and Bahnhofstrasse where they sell lots of craft stuff, but I'm not sure if they have what you need...

In Winterthur - looks dangerous, very dangerous

Along the lines of embroidery/crafting, I'm wondering if anyone is doing crewel. After an inspirational visit to my grandmother and picking up a book stateside, I'm ready to look for supplies and get started.

My first idea was to head to the Loeb sewing section for wool thread, linen fabric, etc. Other ideas? I'm in Bern.

liebendgut in zurich, and there's definitely a very extensive craft supply shop in Bern, down stairs, near the main shopping zone/train station, but I can't remember exactly where...

have a look at www.berncity.ch - under 'shopping' - but the website seems to be really poor and doesn't load properly...

Spiess Idea on Spitalgasse, or the larger Bastelzentrum on Bubenbergplatz are both downstairs and near the main train station in Bern. Bastelzentrum runs the knitting department in Loeb as well, not sure about the sewing department.
