WhySoSerious? has become a little unpopular
Re: Woman getting manhandled by her husband?

I think this thread has sucked the life out of me. I am drained.

No, some things are either bad or good. No relativism here as far as I see these things. Maybe it is fair to add that I'm a woman.
Argh! one of those are you

Re: Woman getting manhandled by her husband?

One little thread and you are drained - oh you poor thing.
How you think posting this vid is relevant, in the context of a woman being beaten up by her partner, beggars belief, really.

I thought we had moved past the original topic once the wooden spoon and tea cup made an appearance. Why so serious Odile? You think anything we type here is going to make any difference to the woman's actual relationship?

Re: Woman getting manhandled by her husband?

No, you are right. Anything could have happened to her. No wooden spoon or silly video will deflect from the subject of this thread - a woman being beaten by her partner whilst others walk away- and that it is NOT funny and indeed, serious.

Reminds me of this awful joke 'what do you say to a woman with two black eyes?' 'Nothing you've already told her twice'.

Presuming any of it actually happened, of course.

Re: Woman getting manhandled by her husband?

Never happened to me or any in my family and friends. I am very lucky - but it happens all the time, here, there, anywhere.
And it will never be funny.

But how can that be? If everybody is calling the police, surely all the nasty bad men are safely locked away in prison?

With all due respect, the topic itself is serious. VERY!

Other than that. You must be kidding right? Seriousness of the thread reached its end and demise with natural EF's death few posts after the poll could have been divided as follow: those who would intervene and those who wouldn't and in either case calling the police would be right thing to do

Re: Woman getting manhandled by her husband?

It's a sad state of affairs when a woman being publicly beaten by her partner - regardless of the circumstances - is trivialized to such a degree. It's this attitude over time that has regrettably hardened me somewhat to stories I've heard of men being beaten up by their wives or girlfriends even though this too is a serious matter.

Re: Woman getting manhandled by her husband?

I don't think anyone trivialized or made jokes about the actual beating or any woman beating. Some of you are reading into things that I certainly am not projecting. I am a guy who has never raised his hands let alone hit any woman. I respect women and am 100% against any form of domestic abuse.

Arggh, I do believe you. I've seen your favourite jokes few posts above

Though you have failed to see the little irony in my post - there was a bit of "relativism" even in my post. Never mind, do continue trolling.
But as a matter of fact, witnessing violence and not even reporting to the police it's wrong. As in whysosimple? Because.

You mean the car joke? What has that got to do with condoning beating?
The lady should report her husband if she wants out. Me reporting is not going to make her leave him. Sorry I can't fight other people's battles so close to my home.

Super grandma kicked butt but it would have looked completely different if the thieves had been pro. The way she ran was amazing though.

I think some of you are missing what I actually feel. Let me make absolutely clear that I feel no guilt as it was not me who roughed up the woman. I can't be responsible for other people's bad actions or for the result of their bad deeds.

It was not a situation where I could have spoken to the guy like dear Wasted was suggesting.

So why did I start the thread? Well it was a recent event so just like the bird shit thread I felt like talking about it. The incident just reminded me of how some people are in the world and also how difficult it is to react when your normal walk to the bus stop suddenly becomes something else.

Ultimately it is the woman victim who has to decide what she is going to do about it all and not me.

So do I sound like a cold hearted coward? Maybe but self preservation always comes first for me. What other people think of me has never been high on my priority list
Im sure you are a 100% peaceful and civilised guy and you dont care what other people think of you but you do care what your family, wife and kids think about you, dont you?

What if in the situation you mentioned you were not alone and had your wife and kids with you and you had just walked away from it and things had got bad? Would'nt that bother you that your family would think you're a chicken sh!t?

Nobody is asking you to take responsibility of other's actions but your own and what you did in the situation!

Thing is, its easy to have 8-9 page discussions on something which has not affected us, but if and when we do get affected by it then some of us would cry "Why me! Why did no one cared to come to my side and help me? How could they just walk away like that? Animals!!"

I mean whats next in your life? Your kids get bullied in school and you're going to tell them to bear with it as it not their action? Someone gives a lip to your wife or mistress and you're going to ignore it and infact feel proud that you have never done that to any woman? I know kids with your kind of dads who just grow up dysfunctional and insecure.

Watch the movie 3:10 to Yuma, you might learn something.

Good and bad in this world is not as black and white as you might want to make it. Im pretty sure, when you got home after witnessing that unfortunate event, you would have smiled proudly at your wife, with the thought in your head "You should consider yourself so lucky, that I am not the kind of guy whom I just saw abusing his wife"

P.S. Folks who Thanked my posts; Do you really want to be seen as agreeing with someone like me?

From time to time, even bad boys could have good opinions.
