| | Help! Spilled Red Wine on My Persian Rug!
I'm in a panic. I have no baking soda, club soda, peroxide, etc.
First thing in the morning I will go get a product to help remove these unsightly stains. Anyone have any recommendations/good experiences with a certain product?
Thanks for the tips.

Run to the nearest garage and get Schwepps tonic water...
Clean, relax and have gin and tonic! Done!

P.S. If you don't find tonic water, it can be 7up or any soda colourless drink!

I rub salt on it, little bit of water, more salt, more damp cloth, I think lemon is ok, too, just not soap (makes it all deep purple/brown). As long as it is wet, you can work with it. I remember pouring some liquid vanish on wine, rubbing, rinsing and repeating about 6 times and the stain was gone.

Salt!
And what MusicChick said! Do you have some spray and wash for clothes? Wine goes away with it.

Read this and act quickly, as it tells you; http://ezinearticles.com/?Removing-R...ets&id=5797706 Blot is the key word to take note of, no rubbing, the white wine seems like a good first option if you have it ( you can always put the opened bottle to good use later I'm sure ), the salt will give you a bit of leeway, it will slow the setting process ( once set, you are doomed), and give you the chance to assess the damage.
Good luck, I remember agonizing about this at my sisters' house, where I was the guilty culprit | This user would like to thank readysteadygo for this useful post: | |

Put a LOT of salt on it and wait for the salt to absorb the wine

Thanks to all of you for your tips.
I put some tonic water on the stains and poured salt all over the place. Let it dry overnight, and vacuumed everything this morning. Then I put a rug cleaner on it this AM.
I'm worried my initial reaction of rubbing the wine off the rug with a wet towel and soap made the situation worse (read on the internet NOT to do that, after the fact), but we'll see what happens.
