| | Re: Migros- Nano Mania?? | Quote: | | | | | My mother always told me this:
It is easier to say Yes than to say No....
A yes avoid arguements, cries and fights... Easy.
A no, needs explanations, stand on your decision no matter the amount of tears, screams and fights..... | | | | | My approach to this is to buy from Migros where there is no difference or only a small difference (eg, the rubbish collection stickers, mobile phone credit, plain milk) but things where there is a big difference we shop at our normal place (usually Denner, but there are a couple of regular purchases that are cheaper at Coop).
So the kids get nanos (luckily one likes the stickers & the other loves the actual nanos - so no arguments over who gets which!) but we don't spend much more on our budget than we normally would.
So it's not a "No, you cannot have this!", rather a "We'll get them when it doesn't cost us extra.". The kids are fine with that.
Also, it helps that our school doesn't allow nano trading - some kids will bring them to trade on their way home after school (many travel alone, so arrange to walk together for a while) but there is no big playground trading session.

If we were able to shop in Migros on normal basis, I wouldn't mind kid getting the little thingies, and as we do every now and then, she gets hers. But to start running the family around some marketing craze, insane. I think it is healthy for kids to actually not have something that others do. I wouldn't go out of my way to not allow nanos just to give my child a lesson, either, since I think it can be a bit painful, regarding all the classmates and trading that is going on. But, in moderation, allowing to have some, not all, and dish out some morals on deserving stuff and greed can't kill any kid. It irks me kids care for status and street cred linked to material crap so early and it is spoon fed to them.

| | Re: Nanomania toys given out at Migros stores | Quote: | | | | So one would have to spend more than a thousand francs at Migros to get the full set? | | | | | That's only about one month's shopping in Migros for the average family.
What I can't believe is that they try to get the parents shopping there weekly with a minimum spend, making the special ones only available on a Wednesday when the kiddies do a half day at school (presumably so they can nag their parents all afternoon)..cheeky.

This whole promotion, is obviously a marketing ploy from migros, and yes I have adapted my shopping routine to suit (I normally shop mostly in Coop, with only some products sourced from Migros), but once the last one is obtained next Weds., then I will revert back to my normal routine.
Just to add, I haven't spent more, or bought things that I wouldn't normally buy during this promotion, just taken some of the money from Mr. Coop and given it to Mr. Migros.
Without actually calculating it out, 1000 chufs pcm is probably in the rough region of spend for a family of four - but no way did I spend anywhere near that for my eldest to complete the set ("normal" ones). She got given some from family and friends and swapped doubles to get missing ones.
She's now trying to swap some doubles for 3 stickers that a boy with a spare Luxibus requires and close the deal with him (we have a voucher for next month, anyway), so a bit of wheeling and dealing being learnt.

A combination of the cheaper Swiss chains (Aldi and Lidl) and (in our case) shopping over the border means that outside of Christmas, I don't think I ever come close to this on my shopping for our family of 4.
As for the Wednesday specials, I made it clear at the outset that my son had to rely on trading and kindliness of other neighbours/colleagues/EF'ers which would doubtless mean no special nanos. As it is, we are now the proud owners of 2 specials courtesy of EF. So there are definitely ways and means of doing this thing ...

Is there anybody else who is willing to give out his/her nano balls? My kids have collected some but they still need quite some to finish their collection book. Thanks in advance!

Got mine though.
I don't care if i never see a nano ever again.

Success !!! Just been shopping and have the 'Gold' nano for my son. Had to buy new tyres and bits for his bike, so he has a double bonus. Miss out on the other 'Joker' one's though
Also thanks to user Mutti01 and a couple of other users he should be well on his way with the collection.
Will post duplicates and what he needs (if I can work that out) in a day or two.

BIG thanks goes out to summerrain, Kittster, EastEnders and Belgianmum!
We're about 10 nanos short from completing the whole set, but now that we got the golden one (accompanied by euphoric sound effects ), we're done!
I even had a nightmare about becoming a nano myself. I think it's a clear sign to stop the madness!
Having said this, I was totally appalled when a friend told me they now actually sell nanos in Manor's toy department! Manufactured by an Aussie company, 1 "mighty bean" costs 1.60. They come in series | This user would like to thank Femme T for this useful post:

I do hope the nano got to you safe. I tried wrapping it up but still feels like I am posting something dodgy in the envelope. | The following 2 users would like to thank summerrain for this useful post:

It did! Funny you mention this though! All the envelopes with nanos in them arrived in one piece, but looked like they've been chewed up!
I guess that's the automatic machines at die post that did that, when trying to identify what kind of substance is being send over. | This user would like to thank Femme T for this useful post:
