You can try all you want but you'll never eliminate all choking/swallowing hazards from a child's environment (what about the coins in your pocket?) or be able to supervise every waking second. Kids will always find an opportunity sometime to put stuff in their mouths, so when it does happen I don't think I'd be so complacent in judging other parents. Just be thankful yours hasn't done the same - yet. | | | | | Sorry, I should have been more explicite. I wasn't commenting on this specific case but on someone who said that it is the responsability of the parents to keep those objects away from younger children. Yes those case can happen and an accident happen so fast that we can't always predict them. But in some case, the parents be just plain neglectful. Why my comment.

Neither can you shadow your kid 24/7 (where would we find the time to post on EF) to check if maybe she found something that the older one has left out.
My 2 year old stuffed a bead up her nose yesterday, I missed one when the necklace broke 2days ago.
Though, I feel Migros is starting to become irresponsible, Nano Mania, is purely profit based marketing, it brings no educational values home, just choking hazards. I expect more from them!

[Unofficial] update, for anyone (like me), who spent a minimum of 60 chufs in Migros, yesterday, only to fobbed off with a shoulder shrug and half-laugh from the cashier when I asked for my Luxibus.
I gave my wife the receipt, and today she went to the local Migros to where she works in Bern, where they duly gave her a coupon which entitles her to a Luxibus on or after 19 Apr. (I have to double-check this date - seems a bit far away).
Apparently, I should have been presented with same from the store where I shopped. Unfortunately it was in the French speaking side, and my use of that language is verbally impaired.
Short of admitting they (Migros) were under-prepared and under-stocked for demand, they are saying they need to produce some more. Let's hope they get their sh*t together for the next 2 Weds.
So if anyone is in the same boat and still have your receipt, it's worth checking out, before you consider paying silly money to keep the little ones happy.

Just be thankful yours hasn't done the same - yet. | | | | | It's true one can eliminate some stuff (like coins in wallet instead of pocket, for example), especially with food and toys and so, it is really good to be mindful and remind oneself. But to overprotect is no good, either. Since the minute kids change environment (or granny takes them), they go bonkers and suddenly available dangerous things are so attractive to play with. It is much harder work at first, to expose them (sockets, stairs, scissors, china, glass, strings, bags), to not have completely safe place, since you have to train yourself and your child being careful and watch, all the time, think ahead, but I always hated the idea of not teaching a kiddo, rather removing the stuff. They get used to being careful and not dumb really fast. If you train yourself and the kiddo, it won't put the stuff in his mouth. Even if it is there. I only pretty much baby proofed completely when we had guests over with babies and small kids. Kids are smart, you can teach them to be careful really early. But Nanos, I would keep away. One thing is to have a grape and teach a 1,5 old to bite into it, not inhale it, but Nanos have faces, are colorful and invite to put in a mouth. I wouldn't give it to no kid under 3 and still be careful with little kids over 3-4. Our kiddo tried to put it in her mouth, laughing, that it's a fun candy to play with, and she really knows better than that. Ours don't stack up, darn it. She just rolls them. I think 4yr old is too young to have some joy from mere collecting, hogging something. When we found 2 same ones she went and pitched the 2nd one, not realizing one trades collectibles, hahaha...By the time she understands Nanos, the campaign will be over.

Just a tip for all or you tired to run out to Migros for the jokers: do it from home on www.leshop.ch on that special day...They deliver everything at home the next day (or any other chosen day) included the nanos...
Ok for that you have to pay the delivery costs (but not the fuel for your car and your precious time !!)or be member from Migros cummulus programm then you often get vouchers for 10 CHF that almost cover the delivery costs !

We've used le Shop a few times in the past, and it's about time to restock our freezer ... which is the main time we use them, as I don't like carrying a freezer-full of frozen items from Migros to home - and I refuse to get one of those old women's shopping trolleys! |

Apparently Migros do a different type of Nano every Wednesday if you spend over 60 chf.
My kids are crazy for them , so trying to be a good mum (and already done the weeks shopping on Monday!! ) I went to Migros and spent over 120 chf to get them this weeks special white light up Nano each.
Only to find once I had paid my bill that they had sold out and I have been given a voucher for when more arrive. The kids went from excitement to disapointment.
I dont think Migros quite anticipated the impact this one would have on the kids...(although they did on the income it would generate )
Does anyone know how you find out in advance what the Wednesday special will be ? Its such a treck for me and if I know its one they have got or its not a nano then I dont want to waste a journey.
Anyone else got any Nano stories to share ?

I have 2 of these vouchers (don't think she noticed they were stuck together) if anybody wants them since somebody is kindly sending the luxibus nano to us. Youl'll have to wait until 19th April to get one though.
Regarding le shop if you place your order on the wednesday you will receive the super nano ( and any others you're entitled to) when your stuff is delivered.
The next 2 Wednesdays are the next joker days. | Quote: | | | | | [Unofficial] update, for anyone (like me), who spent a minimum of 60 chufs in Migros, yesterday, only to fobbed off with a shoulder shrug and half-laugh from the cashier when I asked for my Luxibus.

Musicchiks, the cost of delivery varies depending how often you shop on LeShop.ch from 7.90 to 15.90 CHF but I do not mind as it save me time and energy (let them deliver all the heavy stocks like milk and co) and as mention you get vouchers for about 10 CHF regularly when you have your Mcummulus card.

Joker days are the days you get the special nanos when you spend 60chf. It says limited to one per customer but I guess you could try making 2 orders over 60chf and have them delivered on different days to see if that would work. Or do half of your shopping online and half in a store as long as they are both done on Wednesdays.
Even if you spend 120chf in a store they won't give you 2 of the special nanos. | Quote: | | | | | Sorry to be thick but what are the joker days ?

Unfortunately I believe only one joker plus some other nanos for the remaining money other 60CHF. I forgot to mention that usually you have to order for 90 CHF or above in LeShop (easy to reach if you use it for heavy stuff about once a month).

Dont buy into the nano craze, theyre just using your kids to make you buy more sh*t at Migros! Not only that, theyre also trying to murder your kids with candy looking death devices. And not only that - they hurt as f-ck when you step on them in the middle of the night on the way to the bathroom.
(the latter is pure speculation on my side since im child and nano fee) |

You know, this campaign has taken on a bit of a sinister twist for me. Spend 60-. and get a plastic glow in the dark lozenge with a ball bearing in it. The choking hazard aside, I'm just wondering how much perfectly good food is going to end up being chucked in the bin just because parents broke under pester power, and spent the required simply to aquire the said glow in the dark tube with ball bearing (which I'm sure costs only a few rappen to produce)
it all started as a bit of fun - a marketing execise without doubt, but nevertheless still fun. However it seems that migros are now milking it for all they can get.

If this was the UK, ebay would be awash with these things and I would rather pay for them than have to go to Migros and do my shopping there to get these damn things. I am mean and my kids only have 3 each but apparently some kids at there school have 'hundreds' so Migros must be doing well from this promotion. I never shop there but did give in to pester power and shopped there this week.

I'm starting to think there's a black market in these things. I just bought a load of ski stuff in Migros xx and got accosted by a desperate looking stranger for my Nanos....
Anyway, I have four packets left so if anybody wants them, PM me. I'll be passing through Zurich Hb at about 7.15 tonight for a potential drop off...!
