Re: Nanomania toys given out at Migros stores

Hmm, I see how being a parent is a lot about saying no but in the long term isn't it saying yes to a better environment and outset for your child? I grew up with my mother who gave me a lot less structure than my dad did (who sometimes gave too much and expected too much), but I seldom saw him. I guess it's easier for a "every other weekend and three weeks holiday a year" parent to really focus on their (only) child than for a mum of three to do a stellar job every day. My thinking is that some battles have to be fought and I know it can be exhausting but if you give in once, you've lost forever.

And it's nice that kids are back to collecting something child-appropriate as opposed to the other trend I read about - exchanging porn films on their mobile phones. At ten. Not kidding.

ETA: No Gameboy issues, because it meant I was the first kid in school to have their own computer and can now use the things quite well as opposed to some of my friends who format their word documents using the space bar and putting in any numbering by hand. Even for 100 page documents... The other teasing and getting beaten up for having a "brown" stepfather is probably where the "issues" come from.

They are definitely being sold on ricardo.ch
WOW! Damn damn damn! There goes a money making opportunity!

On a serious note, I didnt realise there's such hype around it that there's even a demand on Ricardo!

I did a huge grocery run at Migros Glatt on Friday and the cashier gave me about 8 of those. Not knowing what to do with them, I turned around and gave it to a child standing with her mum behind me in line.

The look on her face was priceless. Well worth it.

EDIT: After reading the thread further, I just hope I havent caused any choking incidents.

Thank you for this nice and succinct reminder as to why I do say no. I sometimes lose track of the bigger picture during a particularly intensive session

I'm taking it you mean that once you have agreed to a certain thing (nanos in this case) you can't go back on your word. You don't mean once I've given in on the nanos, I'm going to lose the battle on having a Wii, xbox, mobile phone, watching the tv, etc etc ... do you?

Hehe! Summer, you are a funny girlie!

Well done for giving yours to that little girl. I bet it was like Christmas for her. Aww bless.

I almost got nano-mugged by some kids marauding at the checkout aisles at my local Migros the other day! Actually, they asked very nicely if I wanted them and I felt bad having to explain I was collecting them for a friend with kids. Hope they believed me. Well, I wouldn't be collecting them for myself now would I?!

I hope not!

And I'm doing my food shopping tomorrow morning - I reckon it'll be more than 60 francs, so if one of you parents on a budget will be missing out on the dj thingy, let me know, I'll send it to you.

Well I've grown smarter now.

I will now start making sure that I harden my heart and ignore the puppy-dog eyes of any child within the vicinity when they see me get packs of nanos and dump them right into my shopping bags. No more Miss-Nice. I will then run home, rip open those packs of nanos in estacy and look for those glow-in-the-dark ones to flog on Ricardo.

The things you learn on here. Thanks EF!

Migros is worse this morning than Ikea on a Saturday.

They now stamp your receipt and you have to go to the customer service desk to get the special Nano. There they initial the receipt to say you got one.

So here is DJ Starlight.

I'll second that.

I think this is worse (more stupid), than previous Migros promotions, plus they have 4x Joker days for minimum spend of 60 chufs, instead of one.

Anyway, after last weeks disappointment (voucher to re-deemed next month for Luxibus), the early bird has indeed caught the worm, this week.

Migros Rigiblick in Zurich still have some but running out soon, the lady said. So, since I have no kids, I can send out the following:

DJ Starlight
A6 Niamniam
R6 Weby
S3 Vampi

Obviously I expect a small payment to "Bank of Karma" in return. No such thing as a free lunch.

Couldn't agree more. They had them under the counter here.

At least we got one this week although I resent getting up early in the holidays just to get one of these stupid things.
