Re: Masters study in Neuchatel -- any experiences to share?
I will soon be starting a post-doc at the University of Neuchatel
and I know that in Biological Sciences, the university has
a very strong reputable program. I can't speak for other programs.
Depending on your field, the reputation of your advisor
carries a great deal of weight, perhaps more than the institution itself.
But once again, this is very dependent on the field of study.
As a student finishing my PhD, I would suggest focusing
more on the quality of your department, finding the right mentor for you,
the satisfaction and success of their graduate students,
and how well you will be supported academically and financially.
The best thing to do is talk to other students and graduates.
Going to a university with a great reputation is nice on paper but if you
end up with a poor mentor, instructors, or support,
reputation does little to help you achieve a strong education & thesis.
Hope that helps.
