Colour toner cartidges bought in Switzerland - what is the cheapest brand?

Title says it all really. I'm buying a colour laser printer, almost certainly from Digitec, but I know the toner is the real cost and it varies between brands. I don't want to purchase a marginally cheaper printer but to be stung on more expensive refills. Does anyone know off hand if there are any good deals on toner to be had in Switzerland, any particular brands or somewhere to order from?

thanks!!

At Digitec.
HP Color LaserJet CP1515N, Farblaser, USB, LAN
Not the cheapest for the unit, but printing costs of around 0.05f per page

Good reviews. For small to medium usage. One of the better quality output machines. You can get HP toners almost anywhere. They are around Chf65-80 which will last around 1400-2000 pages. That's a lot of colour printing.

That's a piece of string question. What do you think your output cycle will be - how many pages per month? How many of those pages will be colour? heavy graphical output, or mostly black text with occasional colour for highlighting?

Given the above, and that the accepted useful lifetime for a laser printer is 3-5 years, you then need to consider the cost of replacing the other non obvious consumables such as the the fuser unit, transfer roller/sheet, and possibly the waste tray, if the number of pages you print is likely to go beyond the rated duty cycle of these components during the printers lifetime.

General rule of thumb - High volume output requires a bigger spend up front, but, after factoring everything in, will generally result in a cheaper price per page, and an overall lower total cost during the printers lifetime. Low volume output equates to a lower initial spend with a higher price per page, but the total cost will be overall lower than that of a high volume model during the lifetime of the printer.

Needless to say there will always be places offering good deals on consumables, but the above considerations still apply if you want to minimise your costs.

probably 1000 pages per month, 25% colour. At a guess. I'll check out the HP ones like UTH suggests. Thanks guys!

I would stay away from colour toner made by third parties. I tried them and they produced poor quality printouts. I tried looking for printers that provided lower-cost original-brand toner. I recently replaced my HP with Canon and I am quite pleased with the running costs.

That's very interesting - is Canon colour toner cheaper than HP on spec, or because your new printer is more efficient? Also, where do you purchase your toner for the best price or doesn't it differ?

Did you check printer.com, based on your information they will make a recommendation. There was a buzz a few months ago after they advised a university to change fonts of email clients which lead to 30% reduction of printing costs.

If you have a shipping address in Germany - www.druckerzubehoer.de are the cheapest - I've tried them and so far no problems (you can see their equivalent english site ink.co.uk)
