I am a female and have quite long hair. I'm really desperate to try something new and exciting. Can someone recommend a hair stylist having expertise at short hair styles.
I want easy to maintain good looking style, something like Natalie Portman or Julianne Nicholson .
Considering my hair quality and personality aspects like height, face shape and complexion he/she should be able to give me a suitable short style and not ruin the look.
I am really scared to try anyone without recommendation. So please share your experiences!

It's a tough decision...you already asked permission to your partner?
in case u don't find the proper hairdresser there's always the do it by yourself option...skin style

I'm playing in that shorthair league and I trust Pietro di Giorgio ... He is the best, besides Frederick Fekkai, whom I consult in NYC

i'm serious
guys usually prefer long hair...so if there's a partner maybe he prefers the long cut and it is wise to ask his opinion before ...if there's not..better to have long since there r more chances to be taken by someone else
I'm very very thoughful!
come on!

Years ago I had my hair like Natalie Portman. I was HOT! The amount of dates and compliments I got! Totally sexy!
If I go back to my pre-pregnancy weight after the birth, I am considering to go back that short.... but I have to admit I love my long hair too. And short hair is so much work!
Will see! But that haircut is a total men attraction!

Years ago I had really long hair ( I could nearly sit on it) I had it cut a few inches to mid back and one day decided to have it all cut off, and have it short.
I really hated it - from having a thick long mane it was a real shock and when I look at photos it really didn't suit me. Luckily it grows so quickly and is now long again.
What I am saying is if you have it long usually it might be worth trying a wig on to see how you look - or do the transition gradually.
Short hair does not suit everyone - you have to have the right face..

I'm a short-haired girl, too, for most of my life. I tried to grow it long at different points but I just didn't look like myself and I felt so wishy-washy, because I was not blessed with hair that is fabulous when it is long. My bf prefers long hair, but has come around now that he is no longer woken up by my hair-dryer.
I wish I could find someone in Lausanne or Geneva that knew how to do a great short cut, though. They always try to give me some kind of bizarre Liza Minelli look with really long sideburns.
Maybe I should start coming to Zurich every 6-8 weeks, but that seems a little extreme.

just go back to England- a friend, fully bilingual of mine went to a hairdresser in geneva asking for a short cut and blond highlights to top up her growing roots- came out with black streaks!

This is why I learned to cut my own hair... I am very happy with the results and I am not paying someone who will screwed up my hair and for which I'll cry my eyes out. Now if someone mess it up, It is me and I can live with that. But paying someone else who'll mess it, no more!

@Nil: Thanks you really encourage me! I don't know if I'll look that sexy but yes I'll give it a shot anyways

@smackerjack: I totally agree and that's the reason why I'm looking for an expert who can well judge what's most apt for me. I hope he/she turns out to be as good as I'm expecting
