| | London or Vevey?
Hi
Recently I got job offer in London and Vevey. From work point of view, the job in Vevey is better; however, I am still confused whether I should move to London or Vevey. I am from Sydney.
Anyone here lived in London before and moved to Vevey or vice versa? Any opinions, which place is better?
Is there any English church in Vevey or nearby which is kinda like Hillsong church? I read another thread, there are few in Basel, how about Vevey or nearby?
Thank you very much.

Hi, I moved from London to vevey, both countries are very different. London is a 24hour city. Vevey is a small town, early closing hours but beautiful landscape.
It all depends on what kind of lifestyle you want, if you are an outdoorsy type then Switzerland as a whole is an excellent place to be.
Is there an option to work in vevey for 2-3 years and then go to London? Vevey is quite different to sydney as well.
Yes there are English churches ib vevey and the surrounding areas.
Tell us a bit more about you and then maybe we can help more

As said above, vastly and totally different. Just depends what you want. Vevey is by a beautiful lake, surrounded by amazing mountains, famous ski resorts, hiking paradise- Lausanne and Geneva are not far. Plenty of stuff going on culturally too, theatre, concerts, etc.
London is such an amazing place - but more different they could not be.
Good luck- but as said above without knowing quite a bit more about you, its hard to 'advise'.

If you want to go out every night to a different club, eat out a lot - then London. Otherwise Vevey.

I would add, if you want to learn French, Vevey is better than London |

Apart from the points already mentioned housing will be a factor. You need to assess maybe how much disposible income you are left with.
Good housing in London is VERY expensive and will take a huge amount of a salary.
When I was younger it would be London - but now I like a quieter scene it would be Vevey |

Which does NOT mean that Vevey, Montreux, Lausanne are tiny, deadly, backwaters - but London is ... London. EasyJet, British Airways, and others fly to London several times a day- and Swiss have direct flights to London City - so you can easily spend some time there on a regular basis. You can live in Lausanne if Vevey is too quiet - very regular direct trains.

Hello,
I'm Australian and lived in Vevey for a while. It's fantastic: on the lake, surrounded by the mountains, and unlike anything you'll find in Aus.
If you want to visit London, well it's only an Easyjet trip away.

Thank you very much for all responses. It's decided .... It's Vevey
I guess it's true ... I can get a nice, quiet lifestyle in Vevey and go to London over the weekend or during the break for a change.
Thanks once again!

Well done for making a decision - and welcome to Switzerland. When are you coming over?

If you have time, why not try and have some French tuition before you come. You probably won't need it at work, but it really does help to fit in - not necessarily the level of language, but just the fact you are making the effort.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually did French class for few months last year ... and planning to take French class when I am in Vevey. It will be more useful because I can practice the language there. Without practicing, I will forget again ... which happening at the moment |
