| So the price if i shared an apartment would be around 1000, would the price change significantly if I went to a student residence, because im looking for something very close to the university, maybe even rent the apt by myself, but i believe that would be too expensive for me. | |

Apartment cost varies greatly depending upon what exactly you want... you can get something very "student-y" (one room flat with or without a small stove) for probably as low as about 700chf/mo, if that's more than you want to spend, you're better off looking for a room mate.
Meanwhile, hubby and I have a "dachwonung" (attic apartment) with a very nice view, 1 bedroom and an extra-large living area (2.5 "zimmer") for around about 1200chf/mo.
On the other hand, if you have more to spend, you certainly can find fancy places where even a studio runs up more.
Also, so far as groceries and whatnot, it really depends whether you have the space and know-how for cooking. Much much less expensive to cook for yourself (cook enough for a few days, to freeze and reheat) than to eat ready-meals or even cook solo meals daily. This can be a little bit of a problem though as storage (particularly cold storage) is a bit on the small side in the apartments here - at least, to my American mind that is.
