pianist and wedding dress advice needed

Good day to all,

Im looking for a pianist for our civil wedding in Baden next month (May12). If there are pianists here/piano teachers who are available on that given date you may pm me. Please.

Im also looking for a nice, simple, long, white dress (with sleeves so modest type). Can anyone suggest shops here with reasonable prices? I already ordered a dress online but not so happy about it and had a defect and its too late to send it back when i discovered it. Additionally i was kinda rushed because weve spent several weekends window shopping as far as stuttgart. I am already forgiven for rushing to make the order and given the second chance to pick another dress. I really need to find "that dress" soon as theres still more of the preparation to be done.

Thanks so much EFers.

Hi, the pianist request should go separately into Jobs Offered but you might get recommendations in here. Suggestions for dresses etc. are better off in here too so I moved the Thread.

Yes about my size, i ordered a 32 but still too big for me. Height is 5´2 (kiddie). Im asian, not so easy to find my size in shops here..thats an additional challenge. I know i can wear whatever i like in a civil wedding, but theres a party afterwards with my groom´s clan so theres more pressure.

If you can go for a shopping trip down to Milan you will find a big selection of small sizes, and the dresses are much cheaper than in CH.

I am a size bigger than you and wasn't able to find a dress in CH, and in the end had to buy one from Italy.

Mango and Kookai have also shops in Switzerland and do petite ranges. (they are probably a bit too casual though, but some of the dresses with the right accessorie may pass for an informal reception)

Best wishes for your big day,

French clothes are petite, way smaller than your usual Swiss/German and the rest of Europe. I second Mango, here in Geneva and Lausanne they have some nice pieces, and smaller. Kookai isn't bad at all, either, if I were you I would hop on a train and have a look around Geneva or Lyon.

Maybe she would take the dress you have in the wrong size as part exchange?

Re: pianist and wedding dress advice needed

The one i have is not a real wedding dress. So im just looking for a plain long dress. I didnt find anything in the traumbraut website less than 1000chf. As the name suggests "traum" means "dream". Which is too much for a civil wedding. Or for a regular couple like us.

HI,
I have a dress you might like. If you pm me your email, I will send you pictures. It's very simple, with sleeves, and I only used it once.

Google "white dress" for a pic and then post it here... it will be easier to help you.

Btw, I wore my wedding dress for the civil ceremony and did not regret it.

Re: pianist and wedding dress advice needed

Well my dream wedding is a beach/church wedding which we will do later on in the Philippines. I dont really understand why i need to post a picture. I dont have a specific style in mind so i only need suggestions for affordable and accessible shops that have smaller (asian) sizes. Im already considering Mango. Thanks

I think the idea is that if you post a picture of the kind of thing you like, then the ladies on the thread might be able to advise you as to where to find similar items.

Re: pianist and wedding dress advice needed

Yes, i guess thats why. But i wont narrow it down because just finding my size (equivalent of a european preteen) is already quite difficult and im still indecisive about the design. So im only particular about having sleeves and the length. ALSO, the price. One last issue is to be able to actually try it as ordering is just too risky and i have no time to return and order again. The clothes i see online usually have 34 as smallest. I thought i was lucky when i found a 32, but still too big for me.

You now have less than 1 month to find that "perfect dress" within your budget- you are going to have to narrow it down, especially if you want help from the EF. Long white plain dress with sleeves says "nightgown" to me or something like this (but long):

We don't all "see" the same thing from your discription; Google has an image search function, abuse it.

Can you not take the dress you ordered and have it altered? There must be a dressmaker near to you. Also I noticed my local dry cleaners also does alterations and she seems to always be using her sewing machine so must get lots of clients.
