Re: Community Gardens?

Thank you! This is exactly what I'm looking for - although the links from the site link to a phishing site (stupid hackers). However, I was able to find this from the link you gave me:

http://www.familiengartenverein.ch/index.php

Thank you again! I'm so excited with the possibility of growing veggies and fruit again - even if there is a waiting list!

Re: Community Gardens?

It occurred to me later that there was probably some Info on the Forum already. Bingo. A Search under 'allotments' came up with a Thread which is in Daily Life and here is another to be found in Other/General.

Re: Community Gardens?

Ah, that's what I should have searched for! I looked for "community" + "garden" and a few others, and nada nada limonada. My British husband just said, "Allotment is the British term; of course that is what the search term would be!" The British and the Americans - two peoples separated by a common language.

Hi - After reading through this thread and not finding any references to allotments in the French-speaking part, I wonder whether anyone can answer me about garden plots in the Lausanne area? Does everything go through the Lausanne representative of Gartenfreund or is there another organization that helps out in this region?

Thanks!
Sarah
It looks here as if you're right with the organisation. We might as well have this link though, which gives a few addresses of what I hope is the Romande equivalent of allotment association.

Re: Hobby Garden (Schrebergarten) in Leimbach Area/Zurich

Bringing an old thread back to life because.... we're buying a garten!

Someone is moving and posted their garten for sale on the local FB Buy & Sell page. I thought for sure that we'd miss out because we were leaving the next for holiday and there were already five people interested. Much to my surprise, when I got home the seller sent me a message: "Still interested?"

The paperwork has begun... when we take possession we'll have the typical "shed" (which is nothing like the sheds I am familiar with), an apple, pear and plum tree, grape and kiwi vines, blackberries, an herb garden, a small pond, grill, all tools/cooking wear/table and chairs and of course, grass and a vegetable garden.

I just had to share my excitement with those who will appreciate it. I am already looking forward to going through the tools and doing some winter pruning.

Better check the shed is legal, and the correct size, they are very picky here about what is allowed, but you probably know that anyway.

The shed was there from the owner previous to the current owner, so I think that if there was an issue it would have surfaced by now.

I hope

Re: Hobby Garden (Schrebergarten) in Leimbach Area/Zurich

I hired an 80 sq m plot in Bern, which was a bit too much for me... in the
Canton Bern rules was stated the exact dimensions of the shed. No bigger, no
smaller, and permission had to be given for any erection above one meter high.
