say one is making 150k+50% bonus in Zurich, and there is a job offer in Basel(of all places). I say of all places, because for a person in his late 20s, young and a foreigner and getting used to the small "city" of ZH was pretty tough...and now there is a chance at an offer from Basel. Person may consider it but would need to be bumped up higher in salary to consider Basel. I know taxes, cost of living maybe cheaper..but nightlife, stuff to do, international airport,train station are lacking. Question is, how much in % would your salary need to be higher to "survive" in Basel and have a decent life, considering the person flies 2x per month for international weekend travel away from Zurich, eats out most of the time, but saves minimum 4k of each monthly salary post expenses currently. Put it this way, would you even consider moving to Basel at all?

i don't consider the Basel airport international. it does not fly to most European cities.

At least you got one thing right: you are young.
Taxes lower in BS or BL than in ZH, ZG or SZ? No. You'd better ask for a 50% pay rise.
Nightlife? What do you want -- 24 hour partying? That's Manchester, remember, not any place in Switzerland.
Stuff to do? Refer above posts re. string.
International Airport? Hmmm ... EuroAirport sounds vaguely international to me. easyJet alone serves 31 destinations directly from BSL and in case you hadn't noticed, ZRH is less than an hour by direct train from Basel SBB.
I think you're probably in the wrong country for your fun-lovin', jet-settin', shiny-playthings lifestyle.
