All you have to do is screenshot your online banking statement and blank out any details you don't want anyone to see. Someone can easily run it through software which checks if it has been edited in photoshop or not. All you have to do is select the personal details in paint and click delete.

Alternatively take a picture of your latest bank statement with a camera, blank out the details but allow your balance to be visible. It would be almost impossible to convincingly edit the bank statement if the picture is taken with your camera.
But still, how would you know its his bank statement? It could still be someone else's bank statement with the details deleted or blanked out?

I think he needs to prove this to us that he has this much money! Its our right as advisers!

Im gonna have a field day next time someone asks for a relationship or dating advice!!!

I'd be sufficiently satisfied if he provided a picture of anyone's bank statement showing 400k in it to be honest

As for the screenshot, it would probably have the date on it somewhere. Of course I can't absolutely prove it's his but it would be enough for me I'm a simple guy.

But I don't think he has the money and I think a lot of people are wasting their time PMing him to feed his ego with their business ideas.

Phil_MCR offered to let you live in his annex in exchange for 400k. You then said you would take him up on it but pay 100k:

For 100k and you have a deal.
Wondered why I got no reply. The Nigerian type scam is probably my genuine offer! I have a multi apartment house in Adliswil 5 mis walk from main train station. Typical Apartment rent is 1400pcm according to an agent. I was offering you an apartment in exchange for the interest on 100k secured loan for between 6 months and 2 year deal. Ideally 2 years. I would pay notary fees for registering the charge on the property at the land registry. Such a deal would be a no-brainer for me for various reasons.

I did not know which section to post this under or what exactly I am asking but I will try. I am 41 year old single male and don't have any responsibilities as such. No kids or divorced partners. I live in rented accommodation and currently don't have free flowing steady source of income.

On the flip side working hard has resulted in me saving CHF 400k and it is just sitting in my Post finance savings account. To be honest I don't know what to do with this money. I was thinking about buying an apartment but 400k would not get anything in Zurich. Also with no steady source of income will any bank even look at me?

Any general advice on my situation would be highly appreciated.
I am single, no kids/divorcees, similar in age... and I will NEVER have that much money sitting in the bank at one time unless I win the lotto. Knowing I have money not buying anything just makes my skin crawl. Personally I hate saving and investing (my eyes even glaze over the minute someone says "stocks" or "portfolio").

So... I agree with an earlier poster.... go around the world and have fun. Because true, it won't buy you anything in Switzerland, but the other 200k could certainly buy you a vacation home someplace else, like a nice SFH with a pool in Kansas. Why you'd want to vacation in Kansas is beyond my comprehension though.

Or you could just move in with me and take care of my dogs. I won't charge you. haha!

Just a suggestion.

Re: Reevaluating my life and need advice please.

Phil I did try to PM you but I got some error message saying that your PM was disabled.

Secondly do people really think I would give 100k just like that to people I don't know anything about? Written contract or not even with good friends and family I would think twice before investing in any joint scheme. Strangers on an online forum? No chance!

P1909 you are right I have only CHF40 in my bank account. Just checked it's actually CHF4 now. Makes you feel better? Good can we move on now?

Final decision-
To conclude I have decided to buy property outside Switzerland. Will cost me around CHF160-200k. Remaining 200K I will split between two banks. Thanks everyone for your time.

Buy nothing. Continue to do nothing except try to get a job. You are confused but I can tell you, money is nice to have but it itself won't make you happy.

Forget about the money and get a job where you can meet new people, feel useful and sustain your lifestyle. That will make you happy.

Thanks for the update and your final decision

If I may ask, what type of place did you/do you want to you get and in what region? South of France in a quiet little town on a lake etc? .

Either way, congratulations and enjoy!

Puddy

However, it is better to be miserable in comfort!
