Should I just take 100k from PF and move it to CS? Is it worth having two different accounts?

I have a few different accounts. Only 100k is protected, so you should spread it around. Postfinance accounts are fully backed I believe.

In the worst case what happens if I want the 100k in one year? Will there be a penalty or they just won't give me interest?
2.25% just sounds so nice in these low interest days.

2.25% just sounds so nice in these low interest days. | | | | | It is on net amounts at 31.12.2011. So at 2.25% on 100k that's 187.50 per month for 7 months or CHF 1312. I'm sure you can find a better return on your money. From next year you can take out 50k and give notice (3 months I believe) to withdraw the remainder.

A minimum of CHF 500 is required to be considered for the premium rate of interest; new assets of up to CHF 100,000 will earn interest at the rate of 2.25% p. a. Deposits received after May 31, 2011, will earn interest at the regular rate. Our regular interest rates will apply from January 1, 2012. | | | | | CS can go to hell! I ain't transferring 100k for few months of good interest rate only.

I concur the account is indeed useless and the interest you will get is only till the end of the year it seems (this bit I missed), I am with CS and no longer use their savings account for the same reason marie mentioned where they charge you 1% on withdrawals above CHF50k a year. If you want to withdraw more money you need to give them 6 months notice so it's basically equivalent to a 6 months bond.
It makes sense to open one if you know all the details and if you are getting more than 30% more than you do get with post finance. (which we don't know how much you get). I believe their normal rates are something like 1.5% or something.
There were a few threads about this and I thought you already saw them...
anyway here is my last post on one of them...

If you get that as a bachelor... good for you, I guess. Not that you need a lecture, but... Just be safe and be careful of the hearts you might break | Quote: | | | | | As I get uglier I will go for matching ugly girls too | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | So I will continue going for the good looking ones. | | | | | Most of those older, ugly girls will probably be in a long-term relationship already... hmmm or divorced .
Or go for the 'candy girls' who dig older men that have stacks of cash to buy them shoes and clothes etc.
One bonus to a long term relationship is you can pool resources. My hubby and I both earn well so over the last 4 years we've been able to save very nicely and will put a nice deposit down on an apartment. We came to CH with nothing and have lived quite well while saving. We bought our inexpensive little flat as soon as possible after arriving so we could save thousands per month in rent costs and earn capital gains.
We're going to earn buckets of CHF, bail from CH as soon as possible and buy a huge place in the middle of nowhere back home in NZ, and have (more than our usual quota of) mind blowing sx .
I'd really recommend putting your 400k in a house of your own. You're at the peak of your career and could have a nice life while earning a bit more for 5 years or so. I would avoid big mortages if you can, but don't buy freehold because you get taxed on it.
I would work in a steady job 50% to keep you and your property stable, if possible. I'd spend the other 50% of my time developing my own business. What do you do?

At the last change in government?
And they havent recovered? So average New Zealanders can no longer afford a house- which used to be considered a "right" in NZ - started by all the expats returning, and rich asians emigrating...
but hey.... just my 2 cents...

*deep sigh*.. | | | | | Fiddlers on the roof. You'd be equally surprised by what some builders can do to your property value in London.
It can be best described by the expression which would be synonymous for some rigorous and delibrately focused sex.
