Storage companies in Switzerland

Well, to continue my string of moving related posts.....

Thanks to the excellent info that Richard was able to give me about keeping my permit for a few months whilst moving out, I've decided I'd like to keep my belongings in CH at least until the end of the year. Since I'm moving out of my flat at the end of Sept, I'll need somewhere to put quite a bit of stuff.

Certainly in the UK there are storage depots where you can rent some cubic metres and keep belongings that you don't have space for. Does anyone know of something like that around the Zuerich area (or even, generally in Switzlerland). Price is an issue, I don't have a lot of stuff (assuming I can get rid of my furniture) so I don't fancy paying nearly the cost of a small flat out in the sticks to store it.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Cheers,

Gavan

Re: Storage companies in Switzerland

I've been investigating moving my office from Zürich to Zug - or maybe putting it temporarily into storage. I asked the removals company whether they could store the items - the one I was dealing with did. They have a surprisingly large warehouse in Affoltern am Albis.

They have pictures and details (albeit in German) here: http://www.th-freitransporte.ch/news/index.htm

Not that I'm scheduled for kickbacks or anything, but if you DO end up over there - tell them *that American guy from Sattel* sent you. I'm about to have them move my office... maybe it'll help.

They moved me out of Affoltern to Schwyz - they did a pretty good job. They could also move your stuff from Zürich to Affoltern for the duration.

...maybe I *should* investigate that kick-back thing...

Good tip, I'll investigate - But unless they do international removals they might not be interested in offering storage. The gear will ultimately be coming out of CH so I might arrive back sometime in the near future with a large transit and collect it myself (it's no more than a vanfull, most of it could probably fit in a large estate or people carrier).

Re: Storage companies in Switzerland

Their website has been recently updated with an entire "let us store your stuff here!!" section, so I doubt they'd complain about where it was going later. They'd probably be just as happy to pick it up and then store it for you. I stopped in to their warehouse after our last move and was shocked at the storage they have.
