advice pls --buying a barbecue grill

would appreciate if you could share your experiences

- what are the reputable brands in switzerland? which outlets sell good quality one please?

- the differences in electric, gas or charcoal barbecue grill in terms of product performance especially taste of food after grill, ease of clean up and smoke produced (we live in ground floor and I don't want to 'chok' the neighbour upstair...)

- any special advice if you have little kids around in family? any safety issue?

- size is not a big concern for us.

thanks a million.

Re: advice pls --buying a barbecue grill

I just got one on Ricardo.ch from a dealer. MasterGrill M-501SC. It has 5 burners . I paid approx 430chf for it. Brand new and it's great.
Food was fine, no smoke to speak off mainly because I didn't burn the food... Very happy with it.

Re: advice pls --buying a barbecue grill

As far as I am aware, the charcoal ones are not really allowed in shared buildings, unless of course you have a large garden, shame really beacause they produce the best results by far.
I use gas, mainly because of its ease, but as some previous poster (another thread) have stated, it is a wet heat and doesnt do a good a job as wood or charcoal. A good compromise is to get some lava rocks over the flames which sort of replicate the charcoal effect. You can pick up a cheap one at jumbo for 100 chuffs.
As far as electric goes, a friend of mine uses one and the results are good.
As an aside, in between throwing out our old bbq and getting the new one, we were using a tiny porta gas bbq, apart from being a bit small the results were perfect.
(I'm not sure if I answered your question )

These here are nice: http://www.outdoorchef.com/index.php?nav=3,18,21,24
They heat up brilliantly and work consistently. Whole chicken done in 35 minutes. Potatoes cooked to perfection in 20 minutes. Corn, veggies, sausages, grilled fruits: it was all good.

You can get the canisters at Jumbo.
