Re: Help! Irish person not used to the heat, needs advice on work clothes to keep coo

I just want to say thank you for this thread. Having grown up under an air conditioner in the desert, it's been especially difficult to get used to having to actually THINK in the heat of the days here.

I can imagine that if the Swiss would actually install air conditioning into buildings, that worker productivity in the summer would actually go UP.

Hi - cant wear shorts etc. Strict work dress code.
Are you in contact with the public/external customers in your office? If not, there is absolutely no justfication for a strict dress code in hot weather, and you and your colleagues (through your line management) should make the powers that be aware of the problem.

Hot, sweaty, uncomfortable people are not productive. Managers should understand that...

It seems to me that I've seen some commercials recently on TV from the UK channels about some miraculous "wrinkle free" linen suits. I can't recall the store / label they feature though but maybe someone else will?

I also think I've seen some of the folks from that area remark that some of the stores do ship to Switzerland. Marks & Spencer I think is among them, which also is tickling my brain with the idea that they're the ones with the commercial I've seen.
