Anyone from Solothurn?

I'll be moving there in a few weeks from the U.S. Any recommended things to do, places to eat, shop? I'm a thrifty person, are there any good low price restaurants or grocery or general stores?

Hi Bruce, I live 7km from Solothurn City. Lovely place but as for low price shops etc- you know Solothurn is in Switzerland right? Enjoy the move and I guess we do have an aldi and lidl. Ottos for alcohol and general bits n bobs. Not sure about restaurants etc.
Cheers,
Dani

If you are a thrifty person you won't be eating out at all!

It is a very beautiful, small, quiet, county town. Not a lot happening there, http://www.solothurn-city.ch/topic2477.html

Hey, i live in solothurn, i can give you some advice.
First up dont go to aldi there German and frankly bad. cheap shopping go to metro.
there a place by the river called the weisen kruz its not the cheapest but its quite nice, its got local delicasies like horse. There also a falafel shop called samis falafel shop. thats quite chea and really nice, twice voted the best falafel in switzerland, i highly recomend it.

Solothurn isn't too far from Biel/Bienne, so you might want to go and check it out (haven't been there myself, only changed trains at the station).
