Re: Eyelash extensions

I don't presume you will get a guarantee for 6 weeks from anyone and if they do, they are not a very serious salon. It all depends on what hairs they get when attaching them. you could be lucky, you might lose half of them within a week.

On the other hand, they look great as long as you are prepared for the expense.

Re: Eyelash extensions

Do,'t do it. I used to do it it looks great but can pull your won lashes out and they might not regrow. I pulled mine out while trying to remove eye make-up. Plus they feel yuck-to me anyway. Use the ones that you can take off easily or like me use a growth enhancer.

Yes I did, not sure if it was latisse but there are a few around. I got a cheaper version- about $30 on the internet. I wasn't sure if it would work but it did.I already had thick eyelashes, I am just obsessed by really long lashes. It worked my eyelashes were incredibly long, which I loved, Normally my lashes are slightly shorter than 1cm. They grew to about 1.5 cms. Then I ran out and thought about buying some more, but the fascination wore off, so I haven't bothered.

Read up on it though, some have experienced side affects. It was a chance discovery, I think that it was developed after people who tool eyedrops for cataracts or something found their eyelashes longer and thicker. It makes the line along the eyelashes slightly darker, which I liked, but it can cause the iris to discolor. Others complained that their lashes dropped out after they stopped using it, but I wonder if their eyelashes, like mine just returned to be short or sparse and they had forgotten how they were before. It doesn't work for everyone ( I read loads of reviews before buying) but worked for me even though I often put it on over cream. Yu have to wait a couple of weeks to see the full effect.

Ohhhh Hoppy, Mia, that does sound cool.
I've tried fake lashes once and the effect was fabulous. It's such a silly girlie thing but fun!
Hoppy, you mentioned side- effects ?

Carrie.. did you make a typo or are those pregnancy hormones getting carried away with you ?

Not that I advise this route, but if you ever have to have chemo and loose your lashes, the upside is that in many people, they come back longer and thicker. Mine even have a bit of a curl. But again, I don't advise this route. ;-p

My friend got the most beautiful lashes. Another friend's hair was curlier.

I used Revitalash last year ordered it from Amazon- it was much cheaper. But now I just read this:

Quote:
Unfortunately, due to a patent infringement with Allergen, they had to take the bimatoprost out of it and as a result, the product no longer works for me. I believe it may still contains some sort of prostaglandin but if so, one that is less effective for me. I miss my long eyelashes.

I just ordered the Phillip Thomas Roth "Lashes to Die For", and we'll see if that works any better. If not, I guess I'll bite the bullet and get Latisse, which is bimatoprost but which requires a prescription. (And, which is way more expensive than the original Revitalash ever was.)

If you do choose to use an eyelash enhancer with prostoglandin, you need to be diligent - you have to use it nightly and it can take 8 weeks to see results. People who use it sporadically for a few weeks and give it negative reviews aren't using it right. Hopefully, some people will find this new reformulation of Revitalish works for them - for me, my eyelashes went back to nubs.

Do be careful...

I use Xalatan (Latanaprost), a similar (prescription) product to treat occular hypertension - and the side effects are not nice, to say the least.

Yes, the drug has made my lashes longer - but they have become so heavy and sticky that blinking can be difficult. Some mornings I have to pry my eyes apart - the lashes have stuck together. I've also had repeated problems with in-grown eyelashes since starting on the drug.

My eyes color has changed; be aware that change is is likely not going be symetric. Color change is not uncommon, and is likely permanent.

The itching/burning after application is constant, redness is a frequent problem.

Before starting on the Xalatan the doctor carefully went over a long list of side-effects, making very sure I was aware of what might happen. Honestly, I wouldn't risk the side effects these products pose if not needed to treat a medical condition.

Oh, thanks. Sounds interesting I have short lashes. I did use a product for my eyebrows as I have sparse eyebrows and a tick where i rub them off. Yikes. And that worked too. I just haven't found it down here.

My baby niece has these amazing eyelashes and she's only 5 mths old! They keep teasing saying that my SIL is using Latisse on her. LOL. Which I where I heard about it.

Re: Eyelash extensions

Careful, I once paid 50. Sfr for a salon.....Aveda.....cough, cough......to do my eyelashes and the finished product was so comical I immediately took pictures and sent them to my friends and family in the states. They all got a good laugh but I was out 50.sfr.

Try castor oil at night on your lashes & eyebrows if you want them thicker. It works, trust me. Just put it on with a cotton swab. Not sure where to buy it here, I get mine from the states.

Good luck!!

I know many people who've used it and all had really good results. Few had any side effects and for those who did, they were minor and disappeared over time with use. These effects were a slight darkening on the skin where it was applied and red eyes. Me, I still won't use it as I don't want to take any risks with my eyes, no matter how slight.

The color changes that have been documented are uncommon and not only that, they are in women who used the drug for its originally indicated conditions. These women use the drug in larger amounts directly in the eye compared to Latisse users, who use it painted very sparingly along the lash line. One note that the brush that comes with it is apparently not great so almost all my friends who used it bought a very fine brush to do it.

I'm really sorry you've had so many awful side effects, including the more severe one of color change. It's good you're putting this information out there for people. But it should still be kept in perspective as your usage of the product is very different than those who use Latisse.

I still say be aware of all risks and like I said, I've chosen not to risk it. I'm happy enough with mascara.
