| | Where are the Americans in Switzerland?
Hi everybody,
im 26 years old and from the Zurich Region. Im 100% swiss, born and raised in Zurich.
Now why im writing this message? Ok since a couple of years im totally crazy about the US and the American People. Don't get me wrong, i love Switzerland and i love the Life here, but i also need to travel every year to the US (last travel brought me to the South) because im such a fan of the people, the culture and even the things most Europeans would say: "What the f*** is wrong with these people?". I still want to live in Switzerland, but i want to get more in touch with American people, because even when my plan works out and i can travel to the US every year for about 1-2 months, i still need more US-Spirit around here:-)
Another big thing is COUNTRY Music. I love, love, love country music and i travel around Switzerland and even Europe if i can see US-Country Musicians visiting Europe...
So long story short: I want to get to know Americans that would love to share their time with a crazy Swiss Neocon-Redneck who loves America.
Im not an introverted guy that don't have friends, don't get me wrong, but i haven't got enough US Friends... And all my relationships with women didn't work out that well (i think its because they simply couldn't handle my crazyness about the US).
So please shoot me a message and we can get in touch!!
Im often out, but still i don't meet enough American people, so maybe this is the right way :-)
cheers,
hoff

I understand that these chaps might be Americans.
Perhaps they might be interested in having a Swiss person in their little club?

Thanks man... I need to check it out, although with my views i would probably fit more into the republican party... But the Republicans abroad are more active in the french speaking part of Switzerland :-)
Just took the chance to get to know some american people through this forum, 'cause its kinda hard to filter them out in bars and other locations here in Switzerland :-)
Thanks

Best intro ever.
I think I'm a Red Neck, although British born and bred but I do at least meet Americans almost every day. Good luck in your search to meet some real Red Necks.

Thanks for these messages... Well don't get me wrong... I don't have such a limited viewpoint... I would also love to get in tough with Democrats, at least Americans...
I have awesome swiss friends, but i just also need more contact to US people who have "kind of" the same views as myself... Now i always have to drag my friends to Country Concerts, to watch football or the US Elections and to hear that crazy us fanatic stuff coming out of my mouth, would be easier though for Americans to handle that...
Wish me luck :-)
cheers

If you do end up finding a group of American rednecks living here, please be sure to post where you found them so that I'll know how to avoid them...
I moved here to get away from that type!
With all due sincerity, though, I do wish you the best in your search. | The following 4 users would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post:

I'm married to an American, and am gradually learning to love the immense hidden depths of culture that lie behind European stereotypes of the New World, but one thing I have learnt is this: don't even attempt to understand - or, for that matter, express an opinion about - their politics.
That is their business, and many Americans - even those with right wing tendencies - might well take offence at a foreigner trying to tell them what's right and wrong about the way they do things.
Best to stick to the wonderful music, the delicious food and the fascinating complexity of their nation, and leave the politics to those who actually have a right to vote there. | The following 11 users would like to thank for this useful post:

I'm guessing a) you're a troll and b) you don't really understand the use of the term neocon....unless, of course, you actually support America's little experiment at nation building in the Middle East and the use of pre-emptive force.

The easiest way to get on the nerves of anyone, from any country, with whom you are hanging out and enjoying a pint, is to start talking about the politics of his country.
It's simple courtesy, really. Nothing negative about showing a bit of common sense.

| | Re: Where are the Americans in Switzerland?
Funny :-)
The only thing i want is to meet american people here in Switzerland and after only 15 minutes i have to defense myself against political statements and actions... WTF? :-)
1. I understand the term "redneck" as it is today, of course not with ANY! racist background. Just more tradtional in a sense of traditions and values, patriotic, sometimes maybe a bit backwoods.... But all in normal doses. Im not a dirty, toothless guy hanging in the woods... I just love country-music, waving US-Flags, i appreciate the work the US Army does (of course most of you don't i got that, but everyone has his own opinion!).
2. What is sooo wrong when i just want to know people that think kind of the way i do? I also now democrats, i know swiss left wing politicians and right wing politicians... so what? Everybody has his own opinion, and in Switzerland it doesn't matter that much anyway, because in the end we meet each other always in the middle...
3. I don't want to end this thread up as a political discussion. The goal was very unpolitical, just to meet Americans that also love Country-Music and America. (I know that there are Americans here in Switzerland that escaped from the US because they hate it, so i need to make sure that i don't want to meet these kind of people).
Thanks...

You must love this song, the ultimate red neck neo con song. | Quote: | | | | God Bless The USA
by Lee Greenwood
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I'm proud to be and American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA. | | | | | |
