Re: Swiss German women.

After reading this thread, I've come to the conclusion that, generally, the swiss just can't be with each other. Hence the high number of both men and women that have a foreign partner.

For example, when I moved here, I automatically noticed that people here, in general, are not as friendly and do not seem to smile nearly as much as people in the US.
You clearly are not from New England.

In matters of personality, then, yes - quite possibly.

After reading the same thread, I come to a completely differenct conclusion: Swiss women seem to be just as difficult as any other women...

P.S: Do the math: In a country with 30% foreigners is the quote of 38% binational marrigages actually fairly low. Especially when we consider that quite a few men "import" ladies from Brazil or Thailand.

Ok. Not "any woman" - I was generalizing. Sandgrounder prefers to be simple...

It was a bit of a joke, mixed in with some generalization and with a tad of stereotyping.

I'm actually with a Swiss woman, so nothing against Swiss women. Although, I must say that she does fall into the "Hard Headed" category.

I only know of 1 swiss man that has "imported" a lady... I don't really think that it's such an epidemic as it's made out to be. It's no worse than in other countries I've lived in.

And when I do the Math I don't see your point... as if the 30% foreigners all married Swiss folk (nice image, but not the reality). To me, 38% binational marriages seems quite high... and interesting.

I think you are exactly right. My wife is Swiss and I cannot imagine her with a Swiss guy if they are anything like her brothers or work mates.

In addition most of her school friends, male and female, have also married foreigners. Maybe it is a younger generation thing.

In a sample of 2 my hubby (Swiss) married me (American) but his brother is married to a Swiss woman. It so happens that the woman in question is well-traveled, having lived some years in England and Finland. I'm older than my hubby, s-i-l is older than hubby's brother.

Add their mother into the mix, she married an Italian man and one of her good friends (Swiss) married a man from Brazil.

I don't think it's a generational thing, I do think it is that folks of a certain age tend to notice what other folks "around" their age are doing a bit more than how attentive they are to what happened in the previous generation.

Re: Swiss German women.

Uh, interesting topic.
I (swiss woman) was: self-opinionated, judgemental, bossy, allways right and when not, you were just wrong...
I always had swiss partners...
And now, my english boyfriend is showing me, that I don't have to be that way at all...
He takes the part of being right the whole time (anoying but true), and very stereotyping about the swiss... sometimes...
we have wonderful discussions on the subject...
guess, there could be a worse match...
hope, he won't read this thread...

so, what does this say about swiss men?

Re: Swiss German women.

Of my two VERY Swiss-German stepsons, one only has relationships with Swiss women, the other with Malaysians and Thais.

Ironically, he met his fiancee (and mother of his child) in Thailand, while both were on vacation, turns out she was also Swiss and lived in Bern! Oh, and she's 7 years older than he is.

Me, I prefer Swiss-German women, even my Italian-only speaking girlfriend is technically Swiss-German (as was my Canadian late-wife).

Re: Swiss German women.

Well, I can only offer my experience of a sample of one, but based on that, I can conclude that:

100% of Swiss German women are lunatics.

I'm sure there are plenty of amateur statisticians on the forum who will be able to challenge my conclusion, however.
