I am new to Switzerland and reside in Merlischachen. We will be hosting a 4th of July party and need to put our beer on ice. Where in the heck can I find bags of ice in this area and/or Lucern? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys. I did view the thread, but it did not list any suggestions in the Lucern area. If I bought the ice in Zurich, it would likley melt by the time I got it back, plus the price of gas is crazy! If anyone is aware of a place in Lucern that sells ice, please let me know! Thanks again!

Ask the guys at the fish counter of Coop to pack a few bags (be ready to pay though!). If there is a Mercato/Frish Fisch in LU you can ask them.

There's a few places listed here, but I don't know Lucerne well enough to know if that's close to you.

back in the dark ages... before a couple of local gas stations started selling bagged ice mrs. G and I would go to the local pizza joint and ask to buy a bag. They would always give it to us but we were also regulars there.




offtopic.. I went to the local Shell garage for a bag of ice a week ago.. no problem just open the freezer (BP keeps freezer locked all times) take the bag to the cashier pay for it and gone.
last night I went to the freezer but it was locked so I asked the cashier.. she said they had run out of ice so they locked it.

wait a min... when there is ice you could just open the freezer and if you were of a a certain nature ( like Usain LiB ) you could run off with it.

but when they are out of ice they lock it up!?!?.. how Swiss is that?
