| | Re: Remembering Begga | Quote: | | | | | I can only say this; I've seen quite few hilarious acts at the Funny Laundry, but this was the first time I literally cried out of laughter! And my make-up is all messed up now!!!
Great-great-GREAT show!! Both acts were 1st class! Perfect ending of this session, can't wait for the next one to start! | | | | | This post from Begga after the final show of the season at Kuppel last month is something very special for me. The last time I saw/spoke with her she was outside the venue wiping one of those happy tears from her face telling me the very same thing. She was a huge supporter of the comedy and out of the kindness of her heart she did a lot of blabbing on my behalf to let people in Basel know about it as well as come and take photos for me on the odd occasion which she was doing that night too. Bless you Begga, that final exchange and this post on the EF will always remain as my lifelong memory of you. xxx

EnglishForum friends old and new,
My forum name won't be too familiar to many regular members as I have been little more than a casual observer of EF over the last few months.
Much of the reason why my online participation took a dip was because "real life" took over. Specifically, the girl who's the subject of these pages entered my life.
It has taken me some time (and strength) for me to try to formulate the words I wanted to say into meaningful sentences. Having met generous and warm forum mod Slap Head yesterday, I was moved to finally put pen to paper. I should like to express this in the form of a letter... Sweetheart,
The sun may be shining here but the sunshine of my life is gone. I write this just one month after your birthday; a day on which you were so happy, beautiful and absolutely glowing.
For so many people, you were the first friend that they made in Switzerland.
To me, you were my little viking princess, my closest friend, my companion, my strength. And I was proud to be your boyfriend.
In spite of the huge number of friends you enjoyed, you demonstrated to me every day that you would give up every last second of free time that you had, just to be with me.
I cherish so many memories of your beautiful smile, your kindness, your compassion, your patience, your joie-de-vivre and your love. It was unconditional. You didn't mind that: - I have no pushbike (let alone a fancy car);
- that I don't have the muscles of a chipmunk (let alone a Chippendale);
- that I know next-to-nothing about dogs or photography:
- that my culinary "talents" are such that I can't even boil water
- ...and that I have about as much sense of direction as a jellyfish in a typhoon.
We simply wanted to be together.
And we shared a love of the simple things in life: sunshine, good friends, succulent southern-style burgers, kindness and warmth.
The way you were is testament to the amazing upbringing you had. Your Mum is justifiably proud of the woman you became.
Likewise, I was proud to call you my girlfriend; so incredibly lucky that you chose me to be your man.
Eternal love,
Rob.

really hope you are ok | | | | | I had to smile wryly to myself when I looked back at my EF inbox and saw the very first exchanges between myself and my future girlfriend whom I had yet to meet.
This is absolutely genuine and I had almost forgotten entirely about it.
The last line (below) is priceless. Maybe it was a not-so subliminal message I was sending right from the very start...??! Hi Begga,
Please forgive the slight randomness of this message, but I'm actually trying to get in touch with [forum member] who I believe is a friend of yours?
The reason is that I am very interested in the room she showed me, but I haven't been able to find out for days whether it's still available.
She did say that she was away this weekend but that she would still be contactable.
I have her mobile, email address and contact details on EF and I'm not having much luck! Any ideas? I'm Rob, by the way. English. Hi Everyone,
We have planned to have a wake in Basel this Sunday the 17th Basel for all to properly say goodbye and pay their respects to Begga. The official funeral will be in Iceland on Friday so we wanted to wait until after to hold anything here. Please join us at Red Rocks Basel to pay your respects between 2 and 4 pm. The venue will be closed from 2-4 for us to have a private wake. The bar will remain open, however, the memorial we have set up will be removed at 4. You are welcome to stay past 4 to have a drink and to chat with other people in Begga's life however we ask that between 2 and 4 you are respectful and remember that others are paying their respects. If you have any questions please send me a private message.
When: Sunday 17th July, from 2-4pm
Where: Red Rocks Basel, Innere Margarethenstrasse 5
4051 Basle, Switzerland
We are asking everyone who joins to wear something Red in Begga's honor. If you have photos you would like included please message me separately and i wills end you my email address.
Sincerely,
Basel Friends
