Seriously guys what's with the bumping? If people want to post they will. Let the forum take it's natural course (as per the rep)
Well it was suggested on the first day that we keep Begga at the top of the list this week and I thought it was a very good idea.

When you post in a thread just to move it to the top of the forum
It is one thing to post something of little content to bring the thread up to the front, but blatant bumping is something else.

Normally the mods would quickly zap posts which just say "bump", but I guess out of respect they've held off. But it doesn't need to be done, IMO - as Nicky said, let things take their natural course.

Clear, don`t wish to divert this thread at all

Re: Remembering Begga

Nicky is right. Eventually everybody will have said everything that they can and it's inevitable that the thread will drop at some point. I completely understand the desire to keep this and the other thread dedicated to Begga at the top, but simply filling it with "Bump bump" is not adding anything, and IMO making a mockery of the reason for the thread.

So please only post if you want to add something about Begga. Thanks

Re: Remembering Begga

Ok, so I'm thinking about how to do the thread booklet (i.e. a booklet with a printout from these threads), there are some lovely posts from both this thread and the other one, how do you suggest I best do it? Just do a "best of" for both threads and leave out all the "admin" bits or include everything? I was going to do the former but I don't want to offend anyone by going out on a limb.

Again, if anyone wants to send me an e-mail message/photo to include in the condolence book (A5 format), feel free to do so, if you are not too good on designing stuff, let me know what you had in mind and I'll try and create something suitable (within reason, I'm no graphics designer). You could also write something by hand and scan it, I have access to a top of the range laser colour printer until Friday, 17.00 hours. The mail address to send the stuff to (sorry mods, I'll delete the address later on) is mailthekitty@yahoo.com (no laughing at the silly address, it's from a long time ago ).

So far I have received an e-mail from swissotter and will check tonight if Bertand's letter is in my letterbox.

My vote would be for the former too, as long as you are happy to do the filtering.

Re: Remembering Begga

i was looking the "fatal area" on google earth yesterday. And thought *there's nothing about her*...

I know it sounds perhaps a bit stupid, but what about putting some pictures with candles of that place.

Some people place links to pictures they've made (I don't know how).

Bertrand, you maybe not aware but the pictures you see on Google Earth are not up-to-the minute, many of them are years behind.

As an example (and assurance), I can tell you quite decisively that when I look at my mother's house, there is a car parked in the drive that has not even visited that house, let alone be parked in a main spot like that since before I moved here - in 2008.

It is possible to attach photographs to a particular location. I think this is what Bertrand means.

If we (someone) makes a pin in the map like that for Google Maps / Google Earth, that is something that "everyone" would see though, isn't it?

I do not mean to overstep, although Begga and I did interact, we were not that close... I think that is something that should be verified with her family before doing, whether they'd want that or not. I think the candles and flowers at the site is a "community" memorial, having it on the whole internet like that maybe (too) rough for some of her family and close friends to take.

It would be public. I'm just trying to help Bertrand expand his knowledge base. The idea is bloody awful (no offense bertrand)

Remembering Begga and make a change

The last 6 days I have been reading every single word in all the posts related to Begga's....death........and I am truly amazed about the number of loving, caring and sincerly warm hearted people on this forum.

I must shamefully admit that I once or twice in the past has been thinking "get a life" while reading weird posts on EF and I would like to GROAN at myself big time for doing that.

I have never experienced anything like this......and I can only hope that we all will manage to learn something from these last days and pass some of it on to people we will meet in the future.

Thank you all so much for opening my eyes.

Re: Remembering Begga

Me again - would anyone like to make a cover sheet for the booklet? I was going to take the same photo as was put on the accident site (if I may, slaphead) and add some sort of title but I'm somehow stumped for what to say. Maybe just "English Forum Remembers Begga"? Or something different? I know we have lots of creative people on here, now's your time to shine!

Not only does Begga's life need to be celebrated, so too does the human spirit.

This is a remarkable community, the likes of which I have never encountered. It is phenomenal. Begga was like glue, an integral part of this community especially in Basel. She was a catalyst and instrumental in bringing many people together.

I salute Begga and I salute you all too.

Re: Remembering Begga

Tragedy is a reality check. It brings us back to our own fraility and realisation of this temporary journey.
When it happens to a young person, it revulses us because it's against things as they should be. It's against nature. Youth is our future.
When it happens to a beautiful soul, a truly lovely kind heart, an angel we once met or knew well, then it becomes chaotic, undescribable, unexplainable.

A young beautiful life interrupted, fun left un-had, love left un-given.
Jt overwhelms and deeply saddens, even people passing on the road.

We respond with love, it's all we have and it's all we give

No Offense, I wrote it was a stupid idea and I agree with you..... (would have been just a picture of a candle, something like that)

but I needed to write it.

(I have to say that what has happened has disturbed me more than I could have imagined.)
