Hi all, I was wondering, what are the restrictions on Ivory in CH? What documents are needed and where does one look for a buyer?

Is this conservational research or are you considering trading in death and misery ?

If an already dead animal leaves its tusks behind youre not going to throw them away! Not a single cent goes towards poaching, the tusks were a Gift from an African tribe a while back and the Animal died of natural causes.

Regardless, you are an African farmer and should be aware of the worldwide CITES ban.
I assume , as in all permitted sales, that the proceeds will go back into Elephant conservation ?

leaving aside ethical considerations for one moment.
i've never seen/touched ivory before. does it have particular qualities as a material in itself which makes it sought after?

There may be an equal in some modern material but the hardcore ornamental turners say no. I knew one who had acquired a stock of antique (80+ year old) ivory but he was always torn about using it. Even old stock, made into new objects, can stimulate the trade.
