Swiss Movie Censorship

Anybody know if movies are edited / cut differently for Switzerland than UK?

Reason for the question is that Mrs CC and I went to see Bridesmaids recently - its been reviewed well and scores 90% + on Rotten Tomatoes site which is usually a good indicator of movie quality. For those who don't know, its supposed to be a "bloke" movie about girls - quite "near the knuckle" and a watershed movie for girls humours.

But we thought it was rubbish. Not funny, badly edited, some scenes went on too long, some seemed unnecessary. And I wondered - because we seemed so out of touch with what people at home in UK were saying - because of the type of movie it is - have some "gross" parts been edited out for Switzerland?

Any idea what is usually done to "18" type movies here?

Re: Swiss Movie Censorship

The version I watched in Switzerland is exactly the same length as the one shown in the UK, and I can't find anything about any alternative versions - I think you saw the real deal. It did seem very strangely edited in places...

... but I thought it was really funny

It's not the movie. You've been here too long.

Sure - there were bits that made us laugh......but it didn't seem the breakthrough work of art that many said

Anyway - it wasn't meant to be a "Is Bridesmaids good?" thread - more just about whether movies are cut tightly or loosely here?
