Re: is it realistic [to commute Geneva-Basel daily]?

Why not find out about any groups that represent your culture/homebackground/religion in Basel- then write to their 'leader' for them to advertise for a host family for you. This will be much cheaper than renting, and much safer for you and re-assuring for your mum and dad- who could of course meet any suitable family first. Maybe just Google then get in touch asap.

No I am 17, I am turning 18 in 4 months.
You would need to get advice on where you would be allowed to stay. You should talk to fellow students.

I don't think at 17 that you are ready for this sort of pressure though. It is a hell of a lot that you are taking on to do a 6 hour a day commute at that age. I would say, chill and find another solution.

If you want advice, ask and I am sure everybody in this forum will be as helpful as possible.

So you are commuting 7 hours a day Monday to Friday, then working at the weekend? Sorry to be harsh, but you are going to ruin your life when you should be enjoying it. Surely your parents are capable of understanding that this will not be good for you ?
OP, are you already living in Switzerland, or are you coming over here, with your Mum allowing it only if you live with your father? The alternative being that you are back wherever, living with your Mum? I can fully empathise with a parent laying down that condition, if this is the case.

I am wondering why you are looking at studying in Basel - are you able to do the same course closer to Geneva, to shorten that commute?
