HELP, shirt service needed!!!

Hi Basel folks,

Panic panic panic.......

Can anybody suggest a shirt service.... i.e. some wonderful store that will wash and iron my work shirts. I am moving to a B&B and after months of being on the road really need some shirts cleaned and am at the end of the tether.

Alternative suggestions welcomed of course, just have one more clean shirt left and have no idea when I will next see an actual washing machine, iron and ironing board.

I know these facilities can be rare but suggestions that are close to Basel SBB will be great as that is where I am working.

Tx.

Re: HELP, shirt service needed!!!

There's a place in one of the entrances of the SBB (the one opposite the COOP) that does shirts in a day.

Not sure. It might be "Drynett", but it's pretty obvious as you walk in.

Re: HELP, shirt service needed!!!

Hi Colin, when I stayed in a b and b, I was able to use the washing machine there. If you can't do that, feel free to PM me and we can arrange a time for you to bring your laundry over here ( you do it, not me :-) No day or time restrictions in this building. And, I think someone upstairs has an iron!!! :-)

Thank you very much. They have changed thier name to 5aSec now but I got the shirts in so all the advise is much appreciated.

Now that you mention it........Nah, I am too polite a boy to mention any of the possible other needs of a single man new to a town like booze for instance. Who is up for a drink?

Thanks, the "reinigung" was the one that I was trying to figure out. I got that I am Basel though....big train station just outside work window.

Awesome suggestion, I did not think of that first off but I, just got here this evening so did not want to call ahead and make demands, thought I would just do it the quick way first time.

Nope, those are painted on.

It went out of fashion when:
A) You are staying in a place where you can't.
B) You don't want to because it takes up your own time.
C) You don't believe in it becuase you like to create jobs for other people.
D) Nobody irons a shirt like a shirt service (yes, that is a challenge).
E) You really mess your shirts up when you iron them.
F) You are too busy making helpful comments in a thread where you did not even read the first post properly to iron your own shirts.
You pick the answer that makes most sense to you.

-------
Other than that, thanks all for the great help. You are all cool campers!

The dry cleaners near my home has a "customer card" but there is still no way I am going to pay over 4 chf for someone to wash and iron a shirt.

Yup, the problem with the guys in Baden is that they send them all the way to Zurich and that takes 5 days minimum. At least in Basel they do them at the place so that I can pick them up tomorrow.

The place on the Bruggerstrasse in Baden does their own, as does the place in Nussbaumen.
