Fiberglass Resin?

I've had a good look around for a while now and can't seem to find a place that sells Fiberglass resin (liquid)- I need it for a hobby project.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm in the Zurich area. I've tried Jumbo and the small little hardware store on Seefeld.

Boating shops perhaps?

Re: Fiberglass Resin?

I know that there is a hobby store here in Greifensee (on Stationstrasse), but I don't recall the name of it. I'm not sure what type of hobbies fiberglass resin is used for, but from what I've seen through the window, this hobby store in Greifensee sells a lot of model cars and airplanes, etc. So maybe they would have what you are looking for? I think I saw a similar hobby store in Uster once...

Good luck!

Re: Fiberglass Resin?

Boating shop should know where to get it even if they don't stock it. If you can't find a place locally I found these guys: swiss-composite.ch , they stock West System epoxy resin. I've used both polyester resin and West System and would take West System epoxy over polyester any day. At any rate they should have what you need- they have a 200+ page pdf catalog .

Thank you Mud and Carrie F!

Mud - what I'm wanting to do is have a go at making micarta. The traditional DIY way being strips of denim soaked in fiberglass resin and compressed together form a lump of micarta which you can then work with. I wonder if that would work using the West system epoxy you mention...?

It'll work just fine- the technique won't change at all, but your end result should be considerably more durable than if you use regular polyester resin.
