He receives many helpful answers, but after a while this "Nick Scherer" (SAP consultant) writes:

"we don t like too many foreigners at all. and also they work for dumping prices and we have a problem with our living cost. Swiss MUST STOP IMMIGRATION! "

An interesting reply: "@Nick We, in Poland, still remember the stories about swiss agriculture workers coming to us to work before the WW2. So watch out - the fortune wheel is never stopped."

2 - In another group someone else asks
Where do you look for the next IT Job or project in Switzerland?

Again...some helpful answers...until Nick comes with

"why the HELL ALL WANT WORK IN SWITZERLAND??? ARE YOU MAD ??
WE HAVE TOO MANY FOREIGNERS IN Switzerland and we must vote SVP TO STOP ALL."


There is of course freedom of expression on LinkedIn and in general on the web, and this guy didn't express any kind of support for violence against immigrants (well...at least not directly). It's just "curious", to say the least, that even on a "professional" place like LinkedIn I have to read all this crap, and this also demonstrates that the SVP doesn't attract only non-educated Swiss...

Even some professionals are a$$holes!

Maybe he should stop working as an "international" SAP consultant and work only in CH. Did someone tell him he's a hypocrite yet?

So the guy is unhappy to let others work in Switzerland but happy to get into projects internationally, that's very accommodating.

So let's see, xenophobic, possible racist rants about immigration and argues that "we" must all vote SVP to stop the madness.
In other words, ignorant twat votes SVP. Yep, that'd be about right.

Just a thought

I was cycling around Basel all day today and noticed on my travels that the vast majority of these SVP posters had been defaced: either overwritten (accusing SVP of being racists), or painter over, or simply torn away.

That's not the same in Zurich where i've seen the poster in many places, but usually, untouched.

Any thoughts on why Baselers might be more prone to taking "direct" action?

Ok, I'll consider the opposite side here, just for a few seconds (though, I only vote green and socialist and sometimes center, and I'm not going to change).

What if the guy is just letting off steam because he's tried to get new projects and those positions got taken ? Perhaps he's obliged to travel globally to maintain his profession ?

He might not be SVP at all, he just might be very frustrated by the immense competition.
This is what I find frightening. People who might have difficulty making ends meet and who feel that limiting immigration will be the solution. Swing voters in some sorts, who wouldn't feel so threatened if they were not in need.

Maybe they have a point and are specifically refering to IT outsourcing
to offshore companies such as those in India.
I as an immigrant working in IT have also been affected by this.
Lost my SAP IT job due to outsourcing to an Indian company.

That's where my famous line comes: I've been hired by a team of five Swiss. Do you tell them they are idiots?

Went to La Chaux de Fonds and saw the alterated poster- with STOP LA XENOPHOBIE MASSIVE. Brilliant it really cheered me up.

Also read in the local paper a comment from the UDC (SVP) local leader. He said that he was not surprised that the original poster had been tampered with. When asked why, his reply was : personally I find it a bit 'heavy' - those steps remind me of another period of history [his name is actually Hess!]. He said the poster made him feel uncomfortable, and that he believes this is the case for most of UDC members in Romandie. Interesting.

Kash Z - Basel has always been the most 'French' town in Swiss German part of CH- hence the different attitude perhaps.

Nope. Sorry. He's an "international consultant". He should be working ONLY in Switzerland for his views to be not hypocritical. He wants free movement but wants to deny free movement to others. Can't have it both ways.
