Very concerened about the customs, shipment from US

Hi everyone, I'm glad to have found this forum and would like to ask about the customs fees that I'll be facing if I decide to ship a guitar from the states. Specifically it's an electric which I would like to buy there and have it shipped, and it's also possible to buy from the same store a second-hand guitar instead. Assuming they cost the same (around 800USD, and not available at under 1600 anywhere in EU), will it make any difference to the customs evaluation? I am a student and will not have the amount in case it's more than the expected 7.6% plus some kind of customs/postal commission. I will appreciate any reply about similar issues and solutions!

Thanks a lot,
rh

Re: Very concerened about the customs, shipment from US

Thanks, I did search and found some posts regarding that, before starting this thread. My question is about anyone's experience with duty fees added on a second hand item (in my case it's an electric guitar I plan to buy online from a music store), since I would prefer to buy a brand new guitar from the same store, but not on the risk of a huge bill arriving some days later. Would a second-hand item reduce that risk?

Thanks again!

The value of the item is what's important, the invoice should state the price you paid, then it will be taxed accordingly-
