Hi all, need your help here

I am wondering, if I don't have a big car/van and I want to buy a second-hand furniture, how I am going to pick it up? Is there any removal here (Vevey/Lausanne area) that charged per hour? For example in Australia, usually there are hourly removal who can deliver/pick-up one or two furnitures with reasonable fee.

Or if I want to buy furnitures from IKEA or somewhere else, do they give delivery service or I need to hire van or something?

I am new here and I am not sure how it works in here.

I had a similar problem when I arrived and arranged to buy the odd few pieces of furniture. I looked around for a short term van rental or someone to pick it up. Generally it worked out more expensive to arrange the transport than the cost of the item to be moved! In the end I joined the MOBILITY scheme whereby you can rent anything from a smart car to a small van, at most railway stations. They only charge per hour and per km. It worked out very cheap. It is definitely worth joining.
There is also someone 'Man with a van' who advertises on the EF. If you do a search, you should find him . . or else I am sure that someone will chip in with some details. Good luck.

Or you can rent a van directly from IKEA (they are a little bit bigger than mobility ones) -- but you have to drive to IKEA to pick them up.

Good tip about the IKEA rent-a-van . . . but why do you have to drive there? I always take public transport - never been a problem for me.
