| | Be careful on Zurich Bellevue
Last Friday somebody have stolen my backpack with my stuff and docs.
We were sitting with friends right near bellevue, had some beer after work and were chatting. Backpack was on the ground. It was not unattended but we were just a little relaxed.
Honest thief left key from my appartmet on the place where backpack was and I slept at home. But I lost all other stuff inside...
Be careful!
This is a first theft in my life. I visited many countries but I did not expect it possible here in Switzerland.

Sorry to hear that.
Somebody came behind you, picked up your bag, found your keys, took them out and left them where the attended bag was and then took the bag? Wow, he or she was good! Check your kidneys | This user would like to thank Caviarchips for this useful post: | |

always put a leg (either your own, or the one from the chair ) around the straps. nice enough to leave the keys though. haha a thief with a concience, maybe go check at the police station to see if he left your cards etc.
sorry for your ordeal

A colleague had his wallet stolen from his jacket in a local cafe a few months ago, they took one credit card and most of the cash but left a couple of small notes, the rest of his cards, driving licence etc and slipped it back in the jacket pocket!
Sorry for your loss OP, glad you didn't have to spend the night on the street |

Usually thieves will steal the wallet or bag, go through it, usually only for cash or valuables and then toss the bag/wallet with the rest of the contents in a trashcan, bushes or somewhere. It may turn up at the police, or you can even look around a few blocks from where you were and see if you find it.

caught a thief red handed at Letten last year. Was unfortunate though coz the guy he tried to steal from was a great deal bigger and more built than him. Once we let the guy know his iPhone was missing and who it was we saw take it, the guy copped a good ol' fashioned beating, and his bag spilled out with about another 10 or so iPhones, iPods and other electronics...
Interestingly they let him go and told him to never come back. I would have thought they'd hold on to him and contact police, but I guess these swiss guys really believed the guy would never come back. Unfortunately I've seen the thief at Letten quite often since then, just havent managed to catch him red handed again yet...

In Lisbon, I was travelling on a tram with a group. Before a stop, a man came up to someone in the group and said, "here's your wallet" and then got off the tram. The pickpocket had stolen the wallet, taken out the cash and given it back to the man.
Needless to say, the pickpocket was not reported and the man in the group now only travels with a wallet that's chained on to him.
